One Year Ago Today

When i tuned in, it was like watching the guy that just flipped you off crash into a parked car. Then i was sad i had never pressed hard enough for a game before then. Maybe I'll get a chance in the future? Who'll be my Barton?

I get it, SP. Sort of like a midnight showing of "Rocky Horror."

thinks John would make
a good Frank N. Furter

Except I brought pasta instead of the rice, and I don't get a newspaper anymore, so I covered my head with the computer screen...

... and fell fast asleep in my chair. Lol

Got through the first game, that was enough of a rerun for this boy. I gotta admit, John's pre-game pretense about having to PayPal the money was better than any WWF stunt ever concocted. Glad you were able to recover from that, he sharked you good. ;)

Lou,

If John does not want a rematch, I could perhaps be tempted to step into the ring...

I don't play all that well... I may need a ball.

lol, totally caught me flat-footed on that one and I went into my best Paul Newman in "The Sting" when Lonnegan realizes his wallet is missing and he can't pay off.

Russ, the way I played that match -- you guys should be offering me a ball.

so on some level....you miss your volleying w/ JB, don't you, Lou?

i'm sure that it is reciprocated.

PL <---- no more rematches.

Perhaps.

The problem with John was that he didn't have an accelerator, much less know when to back off. When he engaged his switch went to the "On" position and there was no turning him off.

I think that may come with the territoryof online forums and the attitude anonaminity affords... Have had the same conversation with several posters at this point who no longer post much because of this dynamic, myself included....

At least on FB you can boot the trollers when they are adding nothing but trying to incite and the rate of occurance is usually way down to start with..

Glad you are well Lou and I hope the same can be said for your lovely wife and family... I'll be sharing booth space at the Expo with John and I will definitely be pushing for Rocky2 =D....

Shoot Straight,

Chris

I spent last night under the gracious hospitality of John and his lovely family. They are all doing well, and business is brisk. John and I played some scotch doubles last night and no matter what he may have looked like in that 1-pocket match a year ago, John plays quite well and was running out from everywhere. Thanks again John and I look forward to seeing you again at the SBE next month.

Scott,
Your teaching skills are well known but I'm starting to question your eye sight. This guy was running out from everywhere? Maybe it's time we all chip in for some eye procedures?

Best wishes to you and yours, Chris. And give John a big wet one for me at the Expo.

JB/LouMatch

A buddy at the pool hall asked me about JB yesterday -- whether I'd heard from him as of late. And I said no, that he'd left AZ and was doing unknown things but that in my fantasies, I thought about him going off to "The Cruel Tutelage of Pai Mei," (like in "Kill Bill") and had been studying 1pocket for months on end under some master 1pocket sensei, so that one year later he would come back and re-challenge me to avenge his honor....

But alas, that was not so.

So anyways, I looked at the date of our original match and realized it'd been exactly one year. I hope he and family are doing well.

I havent read the posts here so this is just an opinion.

What occurred as a result of that match was a lot of good action... it was amongst existing players of the game but it was some excitement. I was hoping it would be somewhat of a starting point and standard for more.

There was a lot of room for expansion from that platform that I think was lost and its a shame, it was good in a lot of ways.

I also thought it might be the start of a few more challenge matches and agree it was good in many ways.
