Tascarella or Scruggs

Hold on a second. If you owned a cue that had point work that didn't even line up and a wrap that wasn't smooth (Tasc), what would you think? That's right, sold it. The Scruggs I own is sweet. All the point work, inlays, and wrap are perfect. Plus, the Scruggs feels and plays better FOR ME (reminds me of a BB).

I'll never own another Tasc. I wasn't impressed. Although, I have seen pictures of his work that looks great. So, go figure.

First, I have a great Shruggs and several great Tascarellas'. I have felt many of both. My preference is Tascarella. However, the Skruggs is nothing like a Black Boar, at least the modern BB not close. It is a totally different play. BTW, nothing is like a modern BB. The modern BB is very unique.

Once again, xXGEARXx, Often in error, never in doubt. Test a few more cues. All the best.

Ummmmmm, no, it's an opinion.

An opinion for someone who doesn't know much about cues maybe..... Actually that's a bit harsh... Let's say someone who has limited cue experience.. :)..... Even THAT'S a bit harsh... How bout' I agree with you.. Mine is an opinion albeit an "educated" one.. Yeah, that's sound good.. :)

Hmmm....Scruggs or Tascarella? There's only one way to find out. Send both cues to me and I will test them and issue my report forthwith.

Dude, I just love that line. May I have permission to use it? :D

Oh Boy, here we go as the Scruggs fans have caught up. I really think that by the time this thread dies, I bet it will end up near 50-50 split on decisions. Just too close here!

Permission to use it!

Sounds absolutely great but what's the chance of getting them back, let alone getting both back in pristine condition :p:p:p

Wow, heating up a little bit in here but I really appreciate the passion being shown for both cues. Keeping it simple, anyone would have to admit that it's easier flipping a coin!

Are you talking about Pete or his kid?

I don't believe a bit of your story about a Tacsarella cue you described and no one else should either... I've owned over twenty, held over 100 and owned and seen around 30 of Timmy's cues and Tmmy's workmanship isn't in the same league as The Pete's... Sorry no debate it's fact...

I really don't give a damn if you do or not. I have nothing to gain from lieing. Maybe I have a perfect Scruggs and I owned a not so perfect Tasc. Who knows. I'm not changing a thing I posted. The truth is what it is and sometimes not pretty. I'm glad what you own is great.

As far as not in the same league. That's not a fact, we call that an opinion.

I like the old 4 point BB cues. They are my favorite time period for that brand. I have never hit a ball with an 8 pointed version.

Often in error? LOL. I love when you post stories of real events involving real tangible items and you get responses like these.

Once again, I degress. I am sure you know A LOT more about everything, forever.

Yes an opinion that is an "educated" one... And that my freind IS a FACT...

Yes. He knows a LOT more about cues for sure... Many other things as well I'd bet...

Thank GOD we have a genius like you around that can solve anything, forever! Thank you for being who you are and contributing to society! Thank you for your opinion that is actually, some how, a solid, damn fact! You are the greatest, ever.

Radial pin flat ivory joint Scruggs cue ......it's an amazing combination for one of Tim's cues......amazing hit. If it's a piloted steel joint cue, Tascarella would be the way to go.

You're very welcome... And Thank You for the gracious compliment... By the way I can't "solve anything forever" but I can tell the difference between cues. You could too if you knew what to look for. I can help you with that if you'd like...

What if it's a wide pin flat faced ivory joint Tascarella? If you got to hit with a cue like that you just may have to change your shorts..

Well I hope to hell that Tascarella are better seeing as I have quite a big one on order, I have had 3 Tim Scruggs cues over the years,

The best of the three was a very early cue with piloted steel joint. The radial pin one played like crap

all in all, they were not that impressive at all. Mid-Table in the grand scheme of things.

See? This is EXACTLY my point. Some of you (skins) are too thick and arrogant to get the point. Any cue maker can make something subpar. It happens! The Scruggs I have is perfect. The ones you had were what you just mentioned. I am NOT going to be stupid enough and say I don't believe you. Why would I be that shallow? This is a billiards forum. We should be able to share our experiences about cues, cue makers, bad hair days, etc. I am sure what you are posting is a fact. I see no reason why you would make something up for the hell of it.

The Tasc I had sucked. Get over it. It happened. So what. Does that mean all his stuff is no good? Of course not, do I want to go down that road again? NO, I DON'T.

Well skins...you got me there.....all of the Tascarella cues I've been able to try, or spotted on the Forum for awhile now, never had flat ivory joints. All of the cues had Pete's sleeved joint which I did not care for.......Ergo, my comment about flat faced Scruggs cues playing better.

Matt, I'll bet if we did a blind test with a piloted "sleeved" Ivory (as you call it ) Tascarrella AND a big pin flat faced Tascarella, you could not pick out which was which...

Just so you know The Tascarella's piloted Ivory joint only has a stainless ring on the inside of the pilot do they can get a nice compression fit without the risk of blowing out or cracking the Ivory over time. Pete Jr's innovation and a great one at that. You see other makers are now "borrowing" it...

I like Tim's cues and I like Tim but I'd go Pete 'da Cop!
