Looking for opinions from those who have tried or own one or both of these brands of shorty cues. Anyone have experience you care to share, good or bad? Trying to find out which cue is better as far as quality, construction, woods used, playability, weight/balance, and most comfortable taper.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Balance rite is not a cue, is an extension about 10 cm length.

Balance Rite is a company. They make both shorty cues as well as cue extensions. See here

I have a Balance Rite. It pretty good, but I would have like them to put the balance point around 39" from the tip to make it about the same as a normal cue.

On the other hand, I've had it for 7 months or so and haven't used it once in my 14' 2" room. I have actually taken it to the pool hall and ran a rack or two with it.

Have you considered the McDermott 2-piece shorty (childrens) cues?

gr. Dave

I have been leaning towards a forward weighted/balanced cue so that it doesn't feel too awkward when switching from a full cue. I think the 48" troubleshooter comes in at around 19oz, which I doubt I will get from the children's cues

I have the 48" Trouble Shooter and it feels pretty good. I was shocked at how much better it felt than my regular, non-weighted, short cue. I once used it for a short shot and then played my next two shots to run out before I realized I was still using the shorty. Of course, the next two shots were hangers, so it is hard to say. I say put a nice tip on it and either of the short, weight balanced, short cues will work for you when you need it.

To follow up, my 52" Balance Rite has a balance point about 37" from the tip. In space, this would be the same as 22" from the butt off a 58" cue. That's pretty forward balanced for my taste., but the cue still works pretty well, for a short cue.

Ok now you guys got me wondering. My players 52 in youth cue has a balance point about 34 in from the tip. Thats about 3 or 4 in ahead of the wrap. Wrap is linen and tip is a le pro.

Thanks for all your replies. I went ahead and ordered a few of the balance rite cues. Will report back. If the balance on the 52" is too far forward i might see if i can add some weight in the back to make the balance 39" from the tip, which is what my Schon's balance is

Yeah, the shorty cues that are balanced are bit better are the way to go, IMO.
