a former team mate of mine always comes searching for me towards the end of league night. he is always telling me he beat so and so that night and what the score was. my reply is always the same.....that is good , keep it up.

he very seldom looks me up when he loses....unless to say his opponent was lucky as hell. my reply is always the same ...hate to hear that.

a few sessions ago he came up and said he was raised to a 6...i said congrats , you must be shooting good.

well last saturday i wound up facing him in tri cups and i won hill-hill putting his team out of the tournament. i am a 5. sunday night at league he comes up to me and says i was lucky i won because he missed a few shots. when some one tells me i was lucky when i win its more or less saying i am not as good as them and i would not have won except for a lucky roll or 2.

i stood there debating whether to laugh at him or go off on him. after about 10 seconds i decided to fvck with his head.

i said frank...you are right. i was lucky as hell to beat you since you are obviously better than me since you are a 6 and i am a 5. i said as a matter of fact i was lucky as hell all weekend . he replys...you were ? i said yep....after losing my 1st match i went on to win 11 in a row for both teams i was on .

he said...you went 11-1 in the tri cups ? i said yep...lucky as hell wasn't i ?

he says ...you will be a 6 soon.

i say ...i doubt it.

he says ..why don't you think so ?

i said ...we both think i am not as good as you... right ?

he says yea.

i said ...then how can i be a 6 like you if i aint as good as you are ?

his jaw dropped and he had a dumb founded look on his face. for the 1st time in the 4 years i have known him he had nothing to say.

i started laughing and walked away.

My "that guy" is someone I always thought of as a friend until I found out he was posting stuff about me on the internet. **** that guy.

i really do not think he considers me a friend and i never said i thought of him as one either.

i am mostly cordial to every one ...friends and foes alike. so i was cordial to him every time he came up and started bragging. it is possible he may consider me a friend since i never told him to fvck off once during the countless times he has come up bragging.

dont know about you but some times i get tired of hearing some one brag about their wins week after week. sure its nice to share your joy of winning a match some times...heck i have done it on a few occasions...but not every dang week to any one who will listen.

i suppose i could have just laughed at him for being a sore loser.
i suppose i could have said i was tired of his bragging.
i suppose i could have shot back that 25% of his wins were due to slop ....no exaggeration here.
i suppose i could have done what half the forum members on here would have done....challenge him to a money match for insinuating i was not as good as him.

instead i decided to stroke his ego and have fun with it. i am not the 1st poster on here to share their encounters with other pool players.

i thought it was funny and wanted to share it. it seems to have offended you.

hey ! you would not happen to be like that guy would you? is that why my story offended you ? j/k

btw ...frank is a ficticious name....your name aint frank is it ?

Maybe I should have quoted this...."how about sharing your stories of " that guy " From above.

I wasn't offended by your post at all. I was just posting an example of my "that guy." Folks share all kinds of stories on here..that is what keeps the forum going.

damn ...you really are lost aren't you.

I was pulling your leg obviously...but it's always struck me odd that pool leagues seem to have sprung up long after what people consider the "glory days" of pool.
Bowling leagues like crazy in the 60's 70's 80's....pool leagues? Not even in the big Brunswick bowling centers that had a dozen Gold Crowns to the side. Literally hundreds of bowling teams to a center,,,but zero pool leagues. Maybe I lived in the wrong city

well you know what they say...some times things get lost in the translation of the written word when you dont have their tone of voice or facial expression to go by. :sorry:

My "That guy" is a guy that tries to prove to everyone that he is a great player by overly celebrating ever semi-difficult shot he makes. I guess he calls himself trying to get in his opponents head with the, "Did you see that shot?" and Ric Flair like "Woo!" shouts. A lot of people in the league don't like him because of his poor sportsmanship and the fact that he's super annoying.

that guy, with APA stories... LOL.

seriously though, I think we all know that guy. Can't catch a roll, never loses because of skill, etc. again, **** that guy.

I know a guy....
A guy that was generally considered an ass by just about everyone but was tolerable mostly because he had a hot girlfriend that was a fun drunk and he was actually a pretty good player, but not nearly as good as he thought he was. We didn't particularly like each other but I was one of the only people that would put up with him for more than 30 seconds so somehow he always would wind up talking "at" me. Telling me all the things I could do better, why I lost, and why he won, why people were scared to play him and so on...

So when we would match up in a tournament or a match he usually won but every now and then I would get mine. I did learn long before this to just smile at him and agree when I won," yeah, I got soooooo lucky," "you really gave me that one," "I saw that guy bump you," stuff like that.

A few years ago we drew each other in the LTC and I gave him a pretty good beating, felt good. So here he comes, "Hey, you know you lucked out, don't you/ You really got some rolls. Man, I played so bad and your such a luck-box, I just gave you that one" This time I wasn't gonna let him get away with it, I had smoked him fair and square and I really hate it when I hear someone say they gave it away, no one gives it away.

So I said, "If you were gonna give it away maybe you should have stayed home"

He responds with, "C'mon, you know I beat you all the time"

So I repeat back, "So you must be in a giving mood?" he nods and rolls his eyes and starts to turn away but sees me grab his girl friend and I plant one on her, full tongue, wet, sloppy, and to me it seems like she's liking it.
My hands are on her butt and she has a fist full of my hair.

When I'm done I look at him and his jaw is dropped, and I can see he's trying to speak but nothing is coming out.

So I speak, "Well, you said you were in a giving mood... So was [name] She" .... "Thanks for the match, and the girl"
Then our team walks away.

He really hasn't spoke to me since, but I do hear from his girl every so often, funny thing... he really doesn't want to play me anymore
