How much has streaming helped the game?

Curious on thoughts about how streaming pool and the vast number of great YouTube matches along with tutorials has helped
- players games
- the industry of pool

I know if not for the amount of matches I watched via stream I would have not picked up nearly the amount of knowledge that I have
The discussions in commentary about patterns running versus check side breaking etc had really helped me
Of course you need to get out an practice but I'm saying my improvement was way quicker because of streams
Working full time don't have to the time to play all day and practice figuring things out on my own

My one pocket has improved the most because of knowledge gained via stream

I watch an average of 3 streams per week and try to watch only the really good players. my position play has improved considerably! I appreciate all those that post, not only live streams, but those oldie but goodies!

I've enjoyed watching the great players and great matches too.
I try to pay attention to their patterns, position play, decision making and safety play. The truth is...there is a lot of good information to be gleaned from those videos. I've then tried to take some of what I've seen and give it a go on the table. It will take time and practice. I do feel it's help create a marked improvement in my safety play though. Now...if I could only pocket balls as well as they do.

I think it's been great for the game. Players can learn so much more quickly with the available content online. It won't change anything to overcome the huge hurdles the sport has, but it's sure nice to be able to watch without depending on it being on TV. It makes teaching the game easier too.

Streaming has really done nothing to help the game from an outside of Billiards standpoint. Only those within the game (in being able to watch more matches). Personally, if I do watch streamed content it is after it is uploaded to youtube or something. I can't much stand the lag, freezing screens, etc, and that on a 150Mbps connection (of course many other factors are involved).

But I still prefer the older archived matches. Just more enjoyable to watch imo. A lot less slow boring play.

Ah men, I was just coming to say this, not the part about watching after they've been uploaded. I've paid for quite a few streams just to watch it live cause i don't know if it will ever be uploaded. And freezing and lagging? you must be watching some very poor stream or have been the victim of coincidence with the better more known streamers.

But yeah, it's done close to nothing for pool as a whole it's never been advertised outside of a pool related medium

Thank you to all the people who provide streaming to the public without it people like myself who don't get to attend these tournaments would be missing out on a lot.

I do not know of any other sport that employs so much streaming
So yes it has opened up streaming to the "masses" though much of the "masses" is still not biting
It is time that they set up a Streaming Commission like TV to regulate the streamers and ensure a minimum quality and control overpricing . :D
