New idea for scoring pool matches...

What do you think...
Players play alternate breaks. But they are racing to 2 or 3 (or as many as you like) points. The racks are played in groups of 2s (racks 1&2, racks 3&4, etc.), and in order to earn a point a player must win both games in that group of 2 racks (one break for each player in each group of 2 games).

So your motivation is that in order for a player to lose, he must have done something wrong himself.

A similar idea is to have trailing player decides who gets to break. And the game is to race to N ahead with N >= 3.

Not so much that the player needs to do something wrong to lose...but that it eliminates the fact that the player that loses the lag or the coin flip is at a somewhat large disadvantage.

Too complicated
First to win by 2 racks with a limit
For eg . Race to 9 but must win by 2 racks . If score gets to 9-9 , play tiebreaker with banks ( at least 2 rails)
Fixed positions for CB and OB.
Each player shoots 9 times and winner is one who pots the most
:)

Could last forever, which wouldn't be good for tournaments. But it could easily be modified a bit to have a certain ending.

That's like saying a baseball game with extra innings could last forever. Sure it could in theory, but it never would. It would have to be tested in a tournament setting to find out if a short race (to 2) would work.
