Going To Vegas

"Grinded" is gooder, I like 'grinded'

so where is everybody staying? I was reading the APA Facebook page a week or so ago, people were complaining about the price of the WestGate.
We should try to get together for some cheap beer and drunken karaoke (or something like that)

Motel 6. $400 for 9 nights and dogs stay free. Hopefully there's free parking at the Westgate.

!! congrats !!

we might cross with yáll for my furniture show - what are your dates for APA? incase anyone is interested (i don't know where yáll are at), i got an email from Mirage a couple of days ago & they've dropped their rates to an all-time low:

$45/night.

if nothing else, you could use it in barganing with your nearby hotels.

I think the entire APA event is the like the 13th - 22nd or 23rd.

Late Night Karaoke and beer (or just beer and cocktails?) anywhere within those dates. I'm thinking a trip to Ellis Island or the Stateside Lounge might be in the offing....

Lol sounds good to me

Congrats. This is a grueling event. They do a good job of keeping things going. There on convience stores on the strip where you can buy beer, soda, sandwiches. This should help keep expenses down. This is not the same location when I went. There were signs that said you could not bring in coolers or outside food or drinks, but nobody was stopping us from bringing in stuff. Prices were high at the riv.
Good Luck. If your league paying travel and hotel then you expenses should be minimum. Enjoy

Are you folks going for 9 ball or 8 ball?

Congrats Where are best places to stay?

Anywhere but the WestGate. Seriously, the mess trying to check in with a bazillion other poolplayers can be awful. Just remember: Best and cheap are different, best and nicest would probably be the Wynn in my opinion, on the strip the Luxor is usually pretty reasonable, but it's also the furthest away, I've never heard on bad thing about the Strat and it's usually reasonably priced but I've also never stayed there. I have a buddy that loves the Tuscany, but every time I look at it it's always a bit pricy. Off the strip there are a ton of smaller places, look at Yelp or google Las Vegas off strip hotels. The Silver Seven was always a good place and downtown the places were usually a little cheaper but most well kept and nice but again. it's further away. If you're getting a car where you stay shouldn't be a problem. I know people that have had good and bad experiences just about everywhere, I have friends that hate the Wynn and love the El Cortez and a friend of mine just got back from the SLS and said he'd never stay anywhere else, and me I love the big pink rooms and he pool at the Flamingo. Just a pick a place you can live with and have a good time. If we can all meet up for a drink (or many drinks) I think the good time will take care of itself, just maintain control and if this is your teams first visit stress this to them as well, you're there to play pool first, win or lose the fun will come.

I plan on haven great time win or lose

Stratosphere

I just booked 5 nights at the Stratosphere for $400 including a direct flight from Boston which is a steal in my opinion. I have never stayed at the Strat but I hear it is only a little over a mile to the Westgate.

Staying at the Stratosphere ?? You should stay off the streets at night near that place, and its not a joke.

I haven't been to El Cortez in years, it was a dump. The streets were dirty down there but like I said, I haven't been there in years, maybe changed ? I don't know.

no kidding!
i've stayed there several times. they upfitted the rooms a couple of years ago, so everything should be cleaner. cost should be $25-$33/night, and you can upgrade to a room with an office & chair/ottoman & extra TV @ $45. they will comp you $100 in playing chips.
check in is an absolute 3hr nightmare, so tip the valet & he'll take you to the front of the line.
if you stay indoors, you're fine. hookers are in the round lobby bar, dressed in black. they have a Starbucks. there's a great Italian restaurant downstairs ($20ish), standard cheap buffet & diner, and then upstairs on 2nd floor, they've got a slew of fast food cheap food & souvenir shops. at the top, is a revolving restaurant that i always eat at every trip. 5 stars, and you can view all of Vegas & watch the planes hover to land - totally trippy! (my 3 WMC furniture buildings are directly below Strat.) it's on the 104th floor & they use a metal detector before you can go up.... it's $50/plate, but you can simply drink at the bar & still swirl around. the rides & telescopes are above - for $40, they'll hang you 110 stories over the Strip. (this, is the other reason you don't go outside - puke)

Circus Circus a few blocks up is the other cheapest hotel. but it's full of kids.

Luxor is $33/night, but the cabfare will probably eat the difference.

Flamingo's cool w/ their PINK & white rooms & their pools are great - but i think they are overpriced.

Strat, is a good value. my company stays there (cause it's cheap). i only stay there if i'm with my CA rep. their room service is pretty good too - roast beef on bread w/ gravy & mashed potatoes for $12ish. i've heard that the rooms are a LOT nicer since the upfits.

remember, it's going to be 118 degrees, so no one needs to be walking anywhere when yáll can split a cab for $5. watch out for pickpockets on the streets.

.

The Pink Lady just told all you guys right there : Tip the valet at least $5 , if the line is really long, $10. I go to the Golden Nugget to shoot craps now and then and I always throw the valet $5 up front and I get my truck faster than everyone else.
I just retired, I was a dealer at Caesars 15 years and 18 years at other places. If anyone wants to know something, if I can help, I will.
