will give this a chance to straighten out...

EDIT at 9:15 pm Wednesday, 6-17: PM Doug will be assisting with this tomorrow, we'll see how it goes.

EDIT as of 6-19 3pm - THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!!!!!! See below for details.

This is a Public Service Announcement

Below is a link to a for sale thread started by mrspock stating his friend was selling her brand new Southwest cue and that anyone interetsed could email her at the provided email address.

I did and bought the cue and promply paid via paypal.

I then heard a number of excuses regarding the shipment of the cue which resulted in my starting a paypal dispute today.

I almost immediately then got a negative iTrader from mrspock leading me to believe this was the same person who was supposedly selling the cue. I asked the mods here if they would help restore my good iTrader which they did at warp speed. Thank you to whichever mod did this. My rep does matter to me.

The alleged name of the cue seller was Maria King and her email is mkktek@gmail.com

The paypal account that I sent money to was a Christopher Moreno and his email is tophbaki@gmail.com

After much bs the seller only got as far as printing a shipping label and that stated it was from Flushing, NY (Queens)

Our az mod, after my contact, has apparently found azmember mrspock was scamming on his 3 positive iTraders, as well, and the mod made some adjustments to that.

So, beware of mrspock, Maria King, Christopher Moreno, and the lovely wrapless Southwest pictured below.

I am in no danger of being beat out of any money because I am a student of the late great Kevin Brewer. I funded my paypal purchase with my credit card and listed it as being for goods or services.

Just a little inconvenience.

Damn Brian, why are you trying to skank goods from people who skank goods lol?

I saw this on their itrader...things that make you go hmmm....

At least you paid the regular way so you can get a refund, still a pain though.

Matt;

please note the az mods updated mrspock's iTrader just this afternoon after my contacting them.

His iTrader at the time I did biz was 3 @ 100%.

That is the reason I got a credit card, not to mention all those bonus points you get.
You are still protected using other accounts (debit card) the difference is the credit card company will fight the battle for you.
Paypal is not as sophisticated as people think, and a battle like this could possibly take a lot of time on the phone, if you have do fight it yourself.

Sometimes sellers, once they get the money, take their own sweet time because they have the funds so they are in no hurry to actually ship the goods. This looks like one such case, if not an actual scam.

It is too arrogant of a seller with funds in hand to delay a shipment for any reason other than serious family or health events, but some sellers work that way, and I've seen it happen all too often.

If a seller wants 3-5 business days to get a shipment out their door they can say "ships within 3-5 business days" right up front, then buyers can decide whether or not they want to deal with that schedule before they send any money.

Sellers please remember that buyers on the internet do not want emails explaining why something was not shipped, they want the tracking number showing it was shipped within the time promised.

Update

Update;

After my placing a dispute with paypal the seller finally decided to ship Tues night.

Because there were plenty of red flags popping for me, I arranged with my local postmaster that when the package arrived he would hold it for me to come meet with him and we could open it together.

Package arrived this morning and the postmaster called to ask how big was the cue stick. He has my package and he said it's 3oz.

I went down to the po and I had the local pd send an officer to also meet there to do a report and hopefully turn this over to the detective bureau for action.

We opened the package which, btw, had the return address listed as funnycase, 13234 32nd Street, Flushing, NY 11354-1901

Inside, instead of a beautiful wrappless coco & pau ferro SW was a phone cover and screen protector.

Apparently these scammers were trying to have the paypal funds become avail by showing a package with their track # was sent and delivered to me.

Again, the scammers were az member mrspock who posted on here that his friend was selling her new 2010 wrapless sw out of her collection and to contact her by email at mkktek@gmail.com She responded to me that her nam was Maria King

She said I can make payment to paypal account of "Christopher Moreno" at tophbaki@gmail.com which I did

With my refusal of the package today at the po, my paypal payment is already refunded - I was really never in danger of losing my $$.

Hopefully the authorities will do something to put the brakes on these a-holes.

Remember, unluss you are *completely* comfortable with whom you are dealing, never pay as a gift and also, do always fund your paypal purchases using a credit card for backup protection if needed.

Trade safely.

best,
brian kc

Yes good work. Nice to see that you corrected the Mr. Spock inference. Definitely Mrs. Pock !
We don't need another Klingon war.

Did you at least keep the phone cover, Brian?

Good thinking, sir

Brian,

Glad you were far more intelligent than the scammers in question. Isn't it a federal crime to use the US mail for an illegal transaction? Where were the postal inspectors?

Hi Lyn;

I was also advised by paypal to report this incident to the FBI's special internet crimes unit here:

http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

If these scammers skate it won't be from any lack of effort by me.

From flushing..wasn't bark cinnamon (and the 100 names used to scam) from there?

I thought I remembered upstate ny, PA, and then somewhere south, maybe TN?

but it certainly could be a barkcinnamon Jeff Forny operation.

maybe someone from Queens could swing by 13234 32nd Street, Flushing, NY 11354-1901 and see what's there?

best,

I live in flushing and play alot at carom cafe on linden blvd. I dont know any maria king or christopher moreno. the address on the shipping label is an industrial area with small warehouses and autoshops. Most likely korean, alot of these shops and alot of these stores are known to be tax avoiding, cheating and under the table running shops. I'll drive by and look around next time im in the area, Ill probably swing by tomorrow. I don't know what I can do to help, but the case on my iphone was bought on ebay from funnycase. now im worried my paypal is in jeopardy. I guarantee Ive seen this scumbag in the poolhall bc the area of the package and the poolhall are a few blocks away. Most of the koreans keep to themselves and most dont speak english, so I doubt ill ever overhear anything, but if I did I would let you know immediately and help you with the authorities.

edit: Im not automatically assuming he was korean, but I know alot of these guys and have a good suspicion. next time there's a 3cushion tournament ill check the names, I play in the inhouse 8ball league and the 9ball tournaments and there are no maria/Christopher.
