I'd make the 8 in the top left corner and go 6 rails to get on the 9.

Cut the 8 in and go 3 rails for shape on the 9 using low right hand english.
I think using any low brings the side pocket scratch into play. I use pure right and hit the rail before the side pockets, spinning deep into the bottom right pocket, coming out to the first diamond on the 4th rail for perfect shape.
Low right should bring the CB to the diamond below the side pocket in my way of seeing if stroked well.
You need to use hard low left, off the first rail, the left spin till take over on the second rail and add more velocity and angle to go around a total of 4 for the 9 in the corner. The cueball has to maintain good spin off the first rail to catch off the second rail.
