Just wondering how

Post

Pakkawood aka dymondwood, compreg, colorwood etc.... I've heard it called several names...

As for the prices....The Rutland plant burned to the ground and has not rebuilt to produce the wood so the price of the wood it up you and market.

I probably should have put my question in "Ask the Cuemaker" but was remiss.

Some info on Pakkawood. It was trademarked in 1946 by Will Adams of the Adams Plastic, makers of kitchen utensils in Holyoke, MA. The name was later changed to Adams Pakkawood Corp. They stopped production of pakkawood in 1991 and in 1993 the empty warehouse building burnt to the ground. An early use of the pakkawood product outside of kitchen utensils was fishing reel seats such as those by Bill Edwards on his Quadrate rods of the 1950's. Pakkawood is an impregnated laminate compared to typical flat laminates currently being produced elsewhere.

My question remains... Has anyone heard of what old rods are currently selling for? You can pm me with the info if you don't want to post it publicly.

That name brings back some memories, I grew up working in Holyoke just down the street from that factory. I had a few cousins work there when they were teenagers. That's back when Holyoke was a great city....
