Hey guys! Im new to the board.

A little about myself: ive been dabbling in pool for 10 years or so. But recently ive decided to really try to become an A or B player. Currently, im the kind of player that would probably beat most bar players. I think they are called Bangers here.

About a year ago, i started watching videos and taking advice from some people i know who compete regularly. Ive come a long way in that year but have sort of hit a plateau.
Im still nowhere near where i want to be but i practice a couple hours a day for 4-5 days a week.

A problem im having now is that Ill get better in one area but when i go back to another that i was good at, it seems ive lost some ground.

Anyome reccomend a practice regimen? Or a paticular video or player to follow?

Thanks all. Ill be around a lot!

I guess there are way too much materials around for you to pick up, so at least have a direction first, like if you want to work on your fundamentals first or pattern play, aiming, or anything else.
Lots of experts and good players on azb, so enjoy

I need help aiming. I tend to miss longer shots and long shots with only a slight angle.

Before you start worrying about "aiming" make sure you are stroking straight to where you tip is pointing. If you still miss a lot, then look in to aiming.

Make sure you know the correct way to maintain your tip.... get the proper tools, and have someone you trust "show" you the proper way to tip maintenance.

Then join a league, and compete.

Welcome to AZB, and best of luck.

Welcome to AZB, a great place to learn.. lots of help is awaiting.

The stroke is first & always

Aiming is second & always

Then you have Follow, Draw, Stun & Speed for position play

Then you have Drills, Banking (1,2,3 4 & more railers), Kicking, Caroms & Jumping (hope that won't be needed someday).

That oughta keep you busy for awhile

A good coach along the way might not be a bad idea.

Welcome to AZ Billiards Main Forum!

There are MANY good instructional tapes out there. Check out the reviews in that particular forum.

Just in case you're not a troll looking for a little fun.

We all miss longer shots and long shots with only a slight angle. The slight angle shots have such a wide surface area to aim at, some people take it for granted that you have to be precise even on slight angle shots.

Precision is the name of the game.

Learn a few aiming systems and have fun playing pool.

Welcome, PoolPlayer22. I hope your stay here is a pleasant one.
Be sure and sign up for next Wednesday's field trip. We're all going to visit the Go For Broke Condom factory, over in Talbot County, Maryland. Everyone says they have the largest selection of specialty condoms in the world. Some with adjustable tension control, and some even have their own aiming systems. Those are called CTE, or, Center To Enter condoms.
Should be loads of fun.
