★Ko Pin Yi vs Dennis Orcollo★ Jan. 13th,14th and 15th

This deal isn't a freebie.
We have a right to complain about various aspects of it if we pay $$.
When someone sells something for money, at that time they give up all 'protection' from complainers or criticism unless it's an outright swindle (which this is not).
Big Truck productions are on the square.
Growling about the hours of operation is fair commentary.
Deal with it.

So they scoot it up to start earlier and people with piss and moan about it starting too early and they're not off work yet. Sometimes, things aren't perfect for everyone. Deal with it. Or just keep on going around pissing and moaning that it didn't work out perfectly for you.

Maybe start an hour earlier. 5pm est, 4pm central.

Also starting on time would help.

Day 1 went on for about 8 hrs so about 8 minutes per rack which is very slow. Most tourneys average 6 to 7 minutes
Initial games were 8.5 minutes per rack but later after the long break, both sped up their play
Expect faster play today maybe 7.5 minutes per rack. Assuming they stay close and play 60 racks that is 7.5 hours
If they start 6pm EST they should theoretically finish 1.30am
Day 1 finished at 3am cos they started about 45 minutes late and players played slower:D

Day 2 ★ Dennis leads 33 to 28 ★ Starts at 6pm EST.
Ko Pin Yi vs Dennis Orcollo Tonight is The second Night of a 3 day race to 100...Each night starts at 6pm EST.
Played on a GC3 with 4inch pockets, Simonis 860 hr Green.
Aramith tv Balls and Magic rack.

Day 2 and Steinway Billiards is buzzing already as VIP seating spectators arrive. Less then 3 hours to go for the action of day 2 to begin..

I find the criticism a little too harsh.... Since the match is taking place on work days you have no choice than starting it late afternoon or early evening. At least to meet the US customers' needs. That it lasted 8 hours is due to the small pockets and the fact that both these guys are very deliberate players that take their time for each shot. If Rodney played Jason, it would have taken them only 5 hours.

I agree though, that the match shud start on time. It is a question of respect for the viewers. Especially, since it was foreseeable that the match will last quite long. On top of that, in Europe the match starts at midnight! I had 3 hours of sleep and went to work in the afternoon....

A possible solution is to replay/loop the day's play. Post the starting time of each loop where you had marketed the event and voilà all time zones can choose when to watch. Al finally answered last night during commentary with regard to my proposal. He said that production costs would double and that is why it is not done. I have a little trouble believing that though... Anyway, I am convinced that the additional market potential throughout the world would cover the additional costs for the replay... It is just me who knows 5 people who would have bought the PPV if replay existed.

Since there is no money in our industry, we have to settle for a certain degree of semi-professionalism.

#1 Race to 100 should be on Fri, Sat, Sun.#2 pockets too small. Need a ref and a shot clock...at least the shot clock. IMO. Johnnyt

Seems to me Most if not ALL Steinway streams start 30 min plus late. The owner must think he brings in more $$ by delaying it a while. I agree It is very disrespectful to their customers and I have said the very same thing on here previously. I dont care if the stream is FREE or PPV-Keep your damn word!

At least Steinway seems to have fixed the bandwidth problem.

Without knowing it, I believe that the match is taking place during the week has to do with the tight schedule of tournaments, travel and stuff. Quite a challenge to find common time of two professionals outside their tournament itinerary.

A ref would further delay the match. rack your own is the way to go. Especially in long sets like this, coz it increases the chance for a player to find the zone.

I am not a fan of the shot clock. There are racks where you need thinking time for evaluation. Having a shot clock destroys for me the essence of pool, the tactical battle! Best negative example is the Mosconi Cup, where a couple of key shots have to be rushed. I find this stupid and it doesnt do the game justice. I agree though, that for televised matches - or streamed for that matter - players should be instructed to play and decide at a "decent" pace. How to achieve this in reality.. I dont know but the shot clock is a blunt instrument for a very delicate game...

johnny: can u remember the TAR match between Appleton vs Shane when they had shimed the table to incredibly tight pockets? Almost no break'n'runs, players were scared to go for shots... it was horrible! none of them had a fair chance to get in stroke. So, yes I agree, too small pockets are a pain to watch. I am not quite sure though it is here the case.

Despite all the moaning from me as well, I am very grateful, I have a chance to watch live from thousands of miles away two world stars match-up over a couple of days. I remember well the days when I had to watch VHS 120 mins low quality crap of what you could very rarely get hold of. Thank god we live in this new era...!

Shud start in roughly 20 mins ;) enjoy folks

if he can beat SVB and Ko

if orcollo wins this match and goes on to beat SVB in their match which i think is very possible, he deserves mad props. we will see how this plays out soon enough.

Why do they leave the pro-mo banner on the screen when the players are practicing? Anybody that can see it has already paid. We know why we're here. I want to see the play.... I can see that banner all day long (PLEASE REMOVE IT & KEEP IT REMOVED)

He may be on now but that doesn't mean he will play like this next week. There was a time about 3.5? years ago that SVB didnt want to play DO and said so. DO had tortured him in a couple of tournies.

A year or so later SVB was playing well and DO was just a human again and now SVB wanted to play and he drilled him 100-81. No one plays lights out for long in this game.

exactly my thoughts!

Oh dear, silly me.
I thought I could express an opinion here without being met by tough guys who want to "come under the fence and give me all I can handle".
I am shocked!
Flash <===scampers back to his metaphorical window ledge clad in only his pink panties while singing little melodic ditties from the play Peter Pan.

if you bought a super bowl ticket for the game to start at 6:00 PM and then they changed the time to start at 4:00 PM then they changed the time hours before won't you be somewhat pissssed maybe you can't make it that early or maybe your ride can't make it or you wanted to gamble on the game but it was too late etc. etc. it's just not right baseball football and other sports all count on a game start time for a reason !

Not if the game lasted over 10 hours..

re shot clock a little epilogue.... currently watching the snooker masters where steve davis is doing commentary on bbc: Niels Robertsen was thinking about a shot for 1.5 mintues and Steve Davis said the following:

"there are people who are asking for a shot clock in these situations.. It would ruin the sport of snooker! people understand that there is considerable thinking process needed here."

actually proves my point made above...
