Pros and cons for different kinds of woods

Hi, I've been looking to get a custom cue made and the woods I've chosen are Amboyna, Honduran rosewood, and leopard wood.

I was wondering if these were good woods to use and if there were any issues over time. Obviously I want to be satisfie with the cue I have made and I doubt the cue maker would steer me in the wrong direction. I'd still like the input of those more knowledgable than myself.

The rosewood, and leopard wood are usually straightforward. The amboyna can be more prone to defects, and checking, than some, but any decent cuemaker, should be able to steer you in the right direction. Good luck.

The amboyna should be cored. I like purpleheart for the core.

The rosewood will also make a nice cue. I prefer to use it for points in a curly or straight maple front.
