So what are your thoughts on the best shape for a jump and break tip?

What do you think of using the G10 material for a jump or break tip?

What do you think of using a Dymonwood shaft on your break and jump cue?

Sharing your opinions and experiences is appreciated.

You're dreaming if you think certain tips will give you better shape...

Use phenolic, Samsara, White Diamond, Hammerhead or even a Taom.

I have a Dymundwood Jump/break with a Samsara tip and it breaks really nice. Haven't jumped too often with it but when I was at Steve Dunkel's house, he was showing me how the jump was better with the characteristics of my cue for a long jump. It's very difficult to get a good jumper for the short tight jumps. So I had bought one of his carbon fiber jumpers from someone but they wanted it back, so I'm having Steve make me another 1 with the same specs.

I've never had a real break cue (though I'm looking at picking up a Stinger). I do have a cue I generally use as a break cue, though, and before it warped like a pretzel I used to keep a shaft configured for breaking in my case. I like it shaped to a nickle, or so. I typically keep my tips shaped to a dime, but I like the more forgiving nickle shape on a break cue. I generally like to put a touch of follow on the break to try and kill the cue ball in the middle of the table. I feel like flatter than a nickle forces me to hit too far off the center of the shaft for my own comfort. It feels like I'm flirting with the edge of the tip. I'm sure I'm not, but that's what it feels like and it bugs me.

I guess the Stinger comes stock at 13.25mm. I'm getting it with a Samsara tip and I'm going to try whatever radius McDermott puts on there, which I think is pretty flat. I have a feeling that will feel fine with the humongous stock shaft.

Again, I don't have a dedicated jumper, but just from experimenting years ago, I like it pretty flat for jumping. If I had a dedicated jump cue, I'd shape it flatter than a nickle for sure. For a jump/break I'd probably just leave it at a nickle or so on the 12.75mm shaft I was using (which is what I did, actually). It's not a bad idea to start pretty flat, and slowly curve it more and more until you're happy.

Just my own opinion and tastes, of course.

Ok then

Well Mr. Zero. I never dreamed about any tip giving me better shape. I was asking what tip shape you guys like on your jump and break cues. Like the dime, nickle, flat, etc shape.

The only jump and break tip I have used is a Samsara that seems ok. I think my current jumper is about 14mm and jump/break around 13 mm.

You're dreaming if you think there is a significant degree of reading comprehension on these forums.
