Anybody Else Prefer 2 Rail Kicks?

I'll have to preface this by saying that I prefer 2 rail kicks on balls that are open on the table and not near a rail. I'm watching an APA team and everytime they kick one rail I always see the 2 rail path going into the line of the ball.

It might just be me but 2 rail kicks seem easier now.

Edit: I might even argue that 2 rail kicks are easier to hit balls sitting close to the rail as well. Zero X is the teacher?

Definitely easier to judge and works consistently on different tables.
Another thing is you can aim to shoot with running side everytime, instead of trying to shoot center ball and having unwanted english creep in. It also tends to leave a lot of separation between the balls. What's not to like?

can you post a layout in which you think 2 rails is better than one??

Here are two general lay-outs from tonight. In the one picture, I prefer the 3 rail kick but I'd still take the 2 rail over the 1.

The first pic, maybe it's just me, but I'd probably avoid 2-railer because it's hard to judge how the cue ball will come off when you shoot it into the rail from that distance. Going 1 rail, I think I'd have a decent chance to get safe if I can catch the bottom half of the 1 ball.

The second pic is right on the money, the 3-railer is easy to hit and is likely to leave good separation between the balls. Most players will try to take more direct routes and either miss the ball completely or hit it and sell out.

I think more good things and fewer bad things could happen going one rail in the first diagram.

I like three rails in the second.

Both of those layouts have the ball near the rail.

This is the real key, the closer the OB is to a rail, the easier it is to get a full hit with the kick shot and good CB/OB separation. You can also aim to hit a point on the last rail contacted before the OB, giving you a relatively large margin for error to at least contact the OB.

This could be with a 1, 2 or 3 rail kick, really depends on the layout.

i am in the camp that the 1 rail kick is better choice for the top pic and the 3 railer for the bottom pic
thanks zphix for posting them....

He was trying to say that the OP said this:

'I prefer 2 rail kicks on balls that are open on the table and not near a rail.'
