Daydreaming about pool

Just curious. How much time do you spend at the table on average per week?

Around 20-25 hours for me I'd say.

About the same. My wife said she is going to leave me if I keep it up. I told her to put that in writing. I'm totally addicted to OnePocket. My Doctor told me not to stop or I'll suffer from withdraw(is withdraw a pun?). I can play for 3-4 hours a day. Have dinner and go back for more. My name is Frank. I have a pool problem..clap clap clap. The pool playing day is not long enough.

I've been hearing a lot about one pocket lately, I should give it a try.

Be warned....you will be playing 25-35 hours once you start. It's a wonderful game. Sort of a specialty game. Like a society or group of players that like something totally different. It's confusion and puzzling in the beginning but as the pieces come together it's a game in a game. Keeps you thinking and being creative. Get started. Give it a try...and keep going back for more. Have fun. I hope you enjoy it. Watch matches on YouTube. Simply google one pocket matches. Also check in at www.onepocket.org
I'm in the early stages. I'd rate myself an advanced beginner. I'll always be a beginner. So much to learn. I love the journey.

To beat the one pocket detractors at their own game let me be the first to say "If you think that's bad, wait till you see how long it takes to play a race to three. "

I spend about 1-2 hours 5 days a week...work and family are important for me so I can't do more...when i have the chance i play more but as long as at least 5 of those hours are meaningful practices ...meaning drills and practice shots and concentrating on the moment which is a little hard for me...I can continue to get better.

Agree. It's all about the quality not quantity.
You're priorities are in order. Family/work/pool. Pool's a lifetime of fun. There is always time for it.

Hi Sam.

I'm not playing anywhere near enough given health & family stuff.

Hence the need for what Gene was able to help me with which was that manual method.

I just started playing one pocket about 6 months ago & even got into an in house money league. I made the playoffs which many told me was a damn good accomplishment given that I've never played it before & being the first time in a competitive league that has a few guys that have been playing it for longer than I have been living which is 62 years.

I will caution you on this, though. IF you do start playing it, keep playing 9 ball, etc.

I asked one of the best younger (52 years old) one pocket players in my area if playing it can ruin your stroke & he said... no, he almost screamed, "Absolutely, it can."

Also, I've played with soft tips for 4+ decades but went to a Kamui Medium to try since I was playing only on 9' tables. I'm probably going back to the soft or super soft.

Anyway, I've tried playing one pocket with that medium tip but I keep switching to a shaft with a soft tip. I can see where I would actually want 2 cues to play one pocket with, one with a soft tip & one with a hard tip.

It's a bit of a strange game, but one that I think can also helps aspects of your game when you're playing 9 ball, etc.

You Enjoy YOUR Journey,
Rick

Typically I get off work about 5pm-5:30. I'm about 2 seconds away from the pool hall, so I grab my cues and head straight over after work. I'm there typically until about 11. The room offers a practice pass, unlimited table time for $50/month or $75 for 2 months. Then I head to New York on the weekends and practice on different tables, along with my weekly league matches.

75$ for 2 months is incredibly cheap! It's about that per month where I play, and even that I thought was cheap.

Back in the day I played 10-14 hours a day, every day, for about 10-11 years..

I never missed a day. Holidays I played a little less, but that's it.

These days its a different story.. I'm lucky to play 6 hours a week.. :frown:

20 hours divided between Sat & Sun. 0 during the week, job eats up all my time Mon-Fri

Only about 3-8 since I get crap for leaving the house to go play.

I will be playing more now that the girl is working second shift.

Nowadays I play maybe 2-4 times per month, 2-3h each time. When I was in my teens, I played 30-55h per week, and never skipped school. The rest of the time I ate and slept. I was a dumbass... :D

I have a young son and work 2 jobs so my playing time is limited. I have a good 5 hour session with a buddy of mine about once a month or so. Very much looking forward to teaching my son when he is a bit older

Sadly about 15 since I can't afford table time much and I sleep between my house, my uncles, another uncle and weekends sometimes at my friends so I can't really get a monthly pass either :/

If I had a home table or money to afford more time I'd easily have 40+ I'm completely addicted to pool having only a year played so all the knowledge from it is still fresh and always fun

5-6 hours a week... plus a tournament every couple weeks. Not enough for me to stay in stroke and keep my shotmaking up to par, so I've become a lot more defensive-minded.
If I can't outshoot 'em physically, I drag 'em through the mud and try to break them mentally!
