Spin with CTE

I am a new user of CTE and I am really happy with the results I am seeing in my shot making ability.

The one thing I am not completely clear on from the videos is the application of English to the cue ball using CTE.

I am also not clear on the "raising of the butt" as mentioned in the video during a shot for the application of spin reducing squirt and swerve. I thought that elevating a cue increased swerve and squirt (i.e. a masse shot)

For people using CTE, can you please share with me how you are applying left and right spin to the CB....

Thanks for the help.

BHE for me. Line-up to shoot center-ball then move butt of cue to apply spin. Others like to parallel shift but i prefer bhe.

I thought the same as the OP about raising the butt of the cue. What is the BHE?

BackHandEnglish. You set-up center ball then move butt of cue in or out to apply spin. This method has been around a long time and it automatically negates squirt. Some players that use ld shafts prefer to do a parallel shift of entire cue to spin it. I personally find that too weird. I stood right behind Efren at Derby in '07 and he's a back-hander big time. Lines up center and pivots butt on final stroke.

BHE for me

I marked the pivot point of my cue with a sharpie.

You also need to have a level cue and a good stroke otherwise you'll throw the ball or it'll deflect at a weird angle. If you can hit it clean, you shouldn't need to compensate for throw on most shots.

Keep in mind the lower the deflection of the cue, the longer your bridge point will be. It's why I traded in my predator for a venom shaft, and am seriously considering going to a maple shaft.

Just make sure to hit the ball clean along the new post-pivot path. It'll do wonky things if you don't.
