I have this "manual" or diary by Burton Spain.
How rare is this?
I also have David Kershenbrock's table saw machine diagram.
How rare is that?

A coupon???
Hell, no. Nick is gonna build me a CNC saw for a copy of Kershenbrock's manual.
I'm really wondering if these "manuals" are even that rare.
I think Spain's Recollection is a little dated but I wonder if people still refer to this like a bible or the gist (sp?).

Joel Hercek told me he has only a few copies left for Burt's close friends and former customers. He'll be coming out with reprints very soon maybe you could jump the gun on him :D

I don't intend to make money off it.
I won't be selling this at all.
Kershenbrock's table saw drawings I think is even rarer.

I have a note book from him about 300 pages on building cues. A lot of it is insane. He talks about talking to the wood and all kinds of crazy things. It has the saw machine drawings in it also along with some other stuff he designed.

Mac, you are referring to DK right?
I heard he is a little strange with wood.
I heard he has said you don't want other woods be in the same room when you cut them b/c they scream.

In Davids cue building manual he talks about the sound the wood dust makes. Not sure how he knows what sound dust makes, if he means rubbing it in his fingers or what. That is probably what you have heard after it being repeated a few times. He says certain woods don't like other woods and shouldn't be stored together. He might just mean that some woods stain other woods. Who knows, but the manuals are out there and most are different than the others because he would photo copy one off when someone wanted one and was changing things in it all the time. The saw machine drawings are in mine. I modified the way he did it and built myself a machine about 9 or ten years ago. Still use it almost daily. The drawings in my book are probably a little easier to understand in order to build one. Neither contain precise measurements. I used to have Burtons notes and would like another copy of it if anyone wants to photo copy one off.

I don't know, I think you are being kind. Some of it is really strange. How about storing the wood away from the saw because the saw scares the wood. A lot of very good information though and I guess even a little entertaining.
