Hoppe ring replacing

Hi all,

I've always liked the Hoppe ring look, but I don't care for ivory in my cues.

Can a Hoppe ring be replaced (i.e. ivory replaced with ivory substitute), and if so, what would be involved with doing so?

This doesn't pertain to a specific cue. If it did, I would ask the maker. I'm just curious if it's worth exploring.

Thanks,
Mike

Yes it can be done... it's always best to have the maker do any work! They know how it was constructed and will be able to tear it down with the least amount of issues. Depending on where the hoppe ring is, removal of the weight bolt if any, remove buttcap, remove ivory ring and replace, reinstall buttcap and refinish.

Yes, actually not that big of a deal. I'm sure there are a number of techniques that have been used by different cue makers over the years so a blanket description, on replacement, cannot be issued without inspecting the cue.
