1995: Efren Reyes history-making shot you will love if you’ve never seen it before

Only a ten-percent pocketing possibility for sure, and as he said, he was realistically just hoping for a good hit that would leave Earl somewhat safe (if possible) after CB/OB contact.

I'd have to say the chances of pocketing that shot are much less than 10%.

Personally, I think the serendipity involved only adds to the greatness of the shot.

Interesting and likely correct assessment, PB, and which leads to an idle thought experiment:

Efren shoots the shot 100 consecutive times and likely pockets the ball perhaps 6 or 7 times using the same stroke and CB spin each time. If he fine tunes the speed and spin as he gets the feel of the shot he likely pockets the ball 10 or 15 times.

A moderately advanced AZB-er (B player?) attempts the shot 100 times and pockets the ball perhaps 3 times? Who knows.

Efren in the clip is shooting the shot -- cold, under great pressure, and on his first and only attempt that day -- and to everyone's amazement including his own delighted self -- pockets the ball clean into the pocket. There's the amazing and rare historicity of this unique occasion.

He's undoubtedly shot thousands of two-long-rails kick shots before this 1995 tournament, but not under these hill-hill major tournament (for that time period) final match circumstances.

I think everyone agrees he's definitely one the all-time greatest all around players we've ever seen.
