Are TAP ratings usually this ****ed up before everyone is established?

Ok, a TAP league was started in my area and everyone switched from APA to the TAP league. I like the rules but I have no clue how some people are rated the way they are.
One girl is 14-8 in individual games and 6-2 and matches and is a 2. Meanwhile, one of my girls is 6-20 and 2-5 and she's a 3. One guy on another team is 16-7 and 7-1 and is a 3 and one of my guys is 19-25 and 5-5 and is a 4. All the LO says is "Well, you can't go by win/loss, you have to go by completes, misses, etc." Bull!!!! I'm seriously thinking he's stoned of his ass when he inputs the scoresheets!

You ever notice how many boxes there are to fill in on the scoresheet? It's not just games won and innings. Balls left on table is a major factor, made vs missed as a ratio is key too.

Yeah, all those factors and it still appears to be the world's worst handicapping system unless my LO is doing it wrong

Wouldn't be the first LO to muck the score sheets. but

It's very accurate if the numbers are inputed correctly.

Did your player win games and leave the opponent with a pile of balls left on table? Did the other player win close games playing a similar skill level?
If the players aren't playing similar skill levels that can be a factor.

It usually takes 10 scores to achieve a more accurate handicap. Take a deep breathe and enjoy pool until your 10 weeks in. Ask for a review after that.

I agree it can seem difficult to predict handicaps based on recent player stats. But over time, the handicaps across our league seem about right. Putting W/L stats aside, do you believe your 3 is a stronger player than your 2? Is the 4 better than both of them?

In the APA, the rankings are calculated to the tenth place. When I check my stats online, it doesn't show the total innings, balls, or other information recorded. I wouldn't be surprised if TAP also keeps track and calculate to a finer degree than published handicaps.

Have you considered the possibility of the first player to be 2.9 on the cusp to become a 3 and second dropping down to 3.1?

I agree. My local TAP ended almost a year ago. Just because of skill levels. My LO said he could also get no assistance from TAP main office either in adjusting skill levels that were incorrect.
