I know and understand that things cost money! Believe me I know!!!

Anyway, I know weekly tournament payouts usually give 90% payout, but that's a weekly thing and usually the buy in is fairly cheap. That being said, if someone was run a qualifying tournament to gather 64 players to play in a MAIN tournament, what would be an approximate % to payout out of the monies made from the qualifiers?

Here is an example, a local tourney paid out 68-70% of total money brought in! Wonderingif this sounds about right? To me it seems a tad low but I'm probably missing something,,, or is the director "taking" too much?

Would love to hear some views!

P.S. please don't start throwing a hissie fit with my question about things costing money, if you knew me, you know I am NOT one of those CHEAP pool players! (That's the reason why I don't run my own,, waaayyyyyy too many cheap bastards)

Thanks in advance
Eli

Which tourney paid out the 70%? Was it the qualifier or the main? If the qualifier, the money very well might have gone to the main tournament.

The qualifiers were set up in advance! The winners of those qualifiers were then put in the main tournament! Hope that answers it fir ya:)

It makes some sense for the qualifiers to payout a lower percentage if you use it to the main event. Say you take 10% from each of the qualifiers. You can use that amount to "add" to the payout of the main event making it more attractive. Of course to play in it, you have to qualify from the smaller events. Do the math and play with the percentages. Compare to the other local events in your area to see what percentage they might be using. This does not include any sponsorship funding that might also add to the main event. Good Luck!

Of course the qualifiers were before the main event that they were qualifying for. So, no, it doesn't answer my question.

I'm at a loss brother! It looked like you asked of there were payouts on the qualifiers, no payouts on those, just the main event! Sorry for not understanding, I'm kinda slooooowwwww!

OK. Then yes, it does seem excessive. But, you first have to find out where it went to. Did they have to pay the venue that hosted it?

Ae you sure you know how many people played in each of the qualifiers? If it is the event I think, for your payout percentage to be correct, it would mean an average of over 90 players per qualifier. Did they attract that many?

I don't believe I gave enough information to make a determination on whether "over 90" players per qualifier" is relevant!

I'll send you a PM.

By PM, LIAKOS27 has let me know that he is not talking about the event that I thought he was. So my calculation of the number of players is not applicable.
