At my job, I have no safe place to keep my cue (no office or locker). There are many nights that I'd like to play at a local place after work. I'm obviously concerned about storing my cue in my car in the hot Los Angeles heat. Is there a way to store my cue in my car for the long 8-10 hour workday, or should I just use a house cue?

Thanks for the advice. I'm a bit surprised (but glad to hear) that there is that type of good result from a case. As a Chicago transplant, I don't miss the 4 seasons in one day experience. And if I want to see snow, I can see if from a mountain that's about 30 miles from my house. That's close enough.
I may use the heavy blanket idea, and I may buy a JB case at some point as well. I know my McDermott has a lifetime warranty against warpage, but I don't want to test that out either.

Be sure the case you get is not vinyl.... Cordura is the best bet. (Would be nice if someone made a case in breathable Gortex...uh hem JB).
The JB Ultimate Rugged is a great case but I doubt it has much to do with protecting the cues from weather-caused warpage; it's probably more the quality of the cues.
I have one of these, it only fits 1 cue. Otherwise, I may ditch my 2x4 It's George.

I've used both blankets and comforters in my car trunk in Ohio winters. Neither keeps the cues from getting just as cold as they would otherwise. It just takes longer.

One winter, I had a plastic bottle of spring water in the back of the truck.....
...half the bottle was sticking out and it was frozen....
...the other half was under the blanket and it wa clear water.

The advice from pt, is sound. I know that a comforter wrapped around me in the winter is just what the doctor ordered for staying all warm and cozy. I only wish the comforter wouldn't talk so damn much.
Here's a thought. Does the pool room lease, or rent, cue lockers? I know our room does, and the climate in a pool hall is just as good as the one at home. :smile:

Buy a cheap sneaky pete and keep it in the car for those times you want to stop on the way home. If it becomes more of a habit then you can see what works for your player cue. I would never leave my Mobley in the car no matter what it was stored because I'd be pissed if it got stolen. If the sneaky pete got stolen I'd just get another one.
I would be more concerned with theft than hot or cold conditions. With 2 pick-ups and an SUV we don't own a vehicle with a trunk. So I hide my cue case behind the seat covered with a blanket or towel. When I was working it would sit there for 8 or 9 hours. Never had an issue with my Joss, Shurtz or Cash cues.
Some places have storage lockers for a small fee. Perhaps that would be a solution for some. I know a couple guys that store their cue one of those and don't even own a case.
