Who want's to play Shaw today?

No one really wants to play a long Ten Ball match with Dennis for serious money, not even Shane or Jayson. Everything changes when they get heads up for the cash in a long race. That's just how it is.
Yeah, but Dennis hasn't been his usual self lately, not sure what's up....

I'd love to see Ko Pin Yi vs Shaw race to 100, 9'er, 9 ball, winner break, and no break restrictions, for at least $50k. That would be explosive!!! I'd take Ko -11...

Not going to happen!

Yep, Shaw still has plenty of time to burn out before he's even close.
He is playing pretty sporty these days though....

He wont burn out because he comes from a disciplined background like the Chinese players not a drinking, druging, gambling background like the American players.

Its also hard to burn out when you pocket balls with the fluidity that he does, he never going to feel pressured about making the shot, he always thinks he's out.

I think your right.

I think it would be close, but if something goes wrong I'm not sure Jayson or Shane can recover and catch back up?

It seems like the backers are mostly interested in 1p matches. It's been a long while since we had a highly publicized rotation match.

Let's see Shaw vs a big name.

Maybe not Jay

Jay,
I think you know a bunch more about pool then I do. I also think you are over estimating the skills of Dennis. He certainly is a great pool player and can consistently go up and win against almost any one.

How ever, I don't think his temperament or pool skills are in the same league as Shane. I think Dennis has proven this by some of his interaction with opponents.

In heads up matches Shane is ahead of him. In a long 10 Ball match with winner breaks, no one has a history of dominating Shane. Their TAR match years ago was brutal for Dennis.

If both of them put up their own money in a long winner breaks 9 or 10 Ball race I would gladly bet on Shane. To truly know if some one is a great "money player", they have to prove it by gambling with their own money.

Any way sir....Best wishes!

AFAIK, Alex's offer to play anyone in the world for $100,000 in 9 ball race to 100 remains open. Last I heard, Jayson was trying to raise the cash.

Some of you guys seem to have a short memory.
Jayson Shaw played rotation....race to 80....not all that long ago.
...Jayson got to 59

The winner is a player who's getting a little steam in another thread right now....
....Justin Bergman

OMG! He lost a match, he must suck:rolleyes:

Bet he'd love to do it again

So let's just get it out there....
Race to 100, winner breaks, rotation games 9 or 10, SVB is the favorite against... The Planet!!!
He has said he is not sure he can beat Alex this year in the long race, but, odds are definitely in Shane's favor. Plus he is a little older now with more experience, which is another positive. If Shane plays another 100 race in the next year or so, and the new attention distraction doesn't do as it does to all men, he is gonna hurt somebody's feelings, probably as bad as he did Corey in that first crushville!

I'm thinking Shane would love to play Dennis a long race of 10 ball for serious money.... Wouldn't Shane have to be the favorite there?

Alex and Dennis break isnt consistent enough to compete with Shane unless it's a super tight table(Hard Times). Look at what Dennis did to Ko.

Shane is the favorite but has been beat. Didnt Ko take him for 20K in the CSI match? Shane thought he was stealing, flying to Russia and Greece, only to lose to Ruslan(sp?) and a greek guy.

I believe it was mentioned by Oscar that Chang(J.L) took plenty from Shane in China.

Anything can happen depending how well these guys are breaking. Shane murdered Shaw on the first day of their match. The next day Shaw came back from about 20 behind to even up.

Sorry, but I don't call it a loss for Shane to play anyone with one hand tied behind his back and his feet tied together. I guess you missed his interview before he played in Russia.....you missed his shocked look when he was asked about the break rules....of which he had no clue about? How do you think it would have turned out if there were no special rules? How do you think it would have turned out if KO played a race to 100 instead of a single race to 25?

Besides Alex, one time only in which Shane crushed him the next time they played....can you name anyone who has beat Shane in a race to a 100 on a 9ft table?

It was on a 10 footer, but Earl beat Shane 5 years ago.

As was mentioned by somebody earlier in the thread, Shane would be favored against almost anybody on a standard table. However 4 inch pockets would benefit Dennis because it decreases the importance of the break and Dennis shoots straighter than any player in the world

Do you really think Earl would have beat Shane if they played on a Diamond 10ft....instead of that joke of a converted snooker table? What happened to Earl the 2 time he DID play Shane a race to a 100 on a Diamond 9ft?

So what you're saying is Dennis needs a spot to play Shane, because playing even up with 4 1/2" pockets....Dennis, the straightest shooter in the world....can't win.....ok, I understand:rolleyes:

PS, why don't Dennis just work on his break like Shane does....instead of asking to play with a spot?
