Mike Dechaine SURE looks relaxed. Don't know how he will perform but that is the demeanor Team USA needs to exude.

your thoughts?

Mike D can't complain about bad luck.. ( ball combo bank ) 2nd game

A relaxed and happy demeanor is just part of the equation.

We got whipped pretty good today.

Mike was moving when he shot the 2ball. Poor safety play. Poor combination on the 9ball in the side pocket, luck in the corner pocket.

I've watched a good portion of the Mosconi Cup and I can say that Team Europe earned this victory by being better prepared for this event and performing at a much higher level than our USA Team.

While I'm proud of the way our team conducted themselves, we need improved performance at this event. A lot of things need changing.

It seems that Barry Hearn has other fish that he plans to fry. Can't say I blame him.

We suck at Mosconi Cup!!!

I really don't like the fact that Europe is looking down their nose at America's Team but the fact is Europe is just out playing America in these short format matches.

Maybe Black-balled's training regimen needs to be put in place.

Poor technique, a team of poor technique vs a team of good technique. In the past when USA was fielding legends against Europeans who didn't really play the game that was ok, not now.

dkleather,

I suppose the argument about Chinese tables, overseas underexposure, longer races, tighter pockets, team captain, etc. really doesn't hold water.

I'm curious how the legends of the past would have fared against the current European teams playing 9 ball in the Mosconi Cup.

A very good question, the likes of Rempe, Varner etc looked to be past their best although still good in early Mosconi Cups and some of the guys (for example the guy with the sapphires in his cue Kim something??, Butera, Massey, Dallas West) were just laughable, I don't know how these guys would have done against modern European teams but I suspect they'd have been well beaten.

If you look at teams with Strickland, Archer, Duel, Jones (Verner might have played some of these), I think these guys at their peak could have competed, they have heart and they are winners (Hatch is the same although not as good imo) and that is the difference. The current USA team has no belief and it shows from the word go.
