Hate to break it to you, but if the rules/format stays the same, USA won't be winning anytime soon. Itll take a couple years at least for USA safety/strategy play to consistently get on Europe's level. The only person who can play safe or escape a safe on par with Niels and Darren is SVB (when he's on any table but a mosconi table lol).
Mentality is just opposite between the teams. Europe views pool as chess, playing safe when a shot is makeable but position is 50/50. USA thinks of pool as a guy with a monster truck driving down 5th ave nyc...works in the regular formats at home but not alternate break short race and 9 on the spot. And at the end of the day, its not even about the format, its that their skill and the way they handle pressure is just not even close to the European team. In a long race with winner breaks, only SVB could handle anyone on the European team. The other USA players would probably get owned by everyone, and consistently do get said butts kicked in any tournament with jayson/albin/etc.
