Extension advice: Richard Black cue

So I'm attempting to wade through the wide world of extensions and I seem to have hit a wall, need some advice.
Hoping someone here has both and understanding of extensions and knowledge of cue building and can help.

I have a Richard Black with the type of weight bolt (flat head 3/8x16) which also helps secure the butt cap. The bumper has a small Allen screen that goes through it and into the weight bolt. I have been told by RB that removing the weight bolt is not advised and could compromise the integrity of the butt cap, and that appears to be a problem.

I really like the Tiger extension, but it appears to replace the existing we IMG_2595.JPGIMG_2594.JPGight bolt with a plastic one, from what I can tell in photos, which allows for the attachment of the extension. I am looking for something that I could take on and off so I don't want to remove the bolt (if that's how this works).

My question is... could you tap the existing weight bolt and make/use an extension with a long screw that would go through the bumper, and then find a different way to secure the bumper itself? Or are there other ideas about how to make an extension work for this type of cue?
I've attached a couple photos for reference.

Thank you!!!

I'm sure you could tap the bolt. But, I would recommend getting someone to make an extension to go at the joint, or one of those extensions that go over the butt.
You start messing around with the bolt and how the butt cap is secured, if you do mess it up and send it to Black for a repair, he might laugh at you and charge a shit load to fix it, possibly refuse to work on it at all.
Maybe you can give RB a call and ask what he recommends, before you really mess up the cue.
Just my opinion.

If you look at the extensions Joss and Bryan Mordt makes, they use a 3/8-16 bolt in their extension. So what you can do is screw out the weightbolt that`s in there now (assuming it does not aid in holding the cue together...) install a headless hex 3/8-16 bolt and have a extension with a 3/8-16 bolt made, just screw off the rubber bumper, and screw inn the extension in the exstisting threads in the cue. I did the same thing on a Viking cue, works fine.

that would work except for a couple things... it does hold the butt cap on (even though it's expoxied, it still helps hold it. and I'm not looking for a full time extension, just something temporary.

I am working with Blokid to build something that works, we'll see how it goes!

It`t no problem machining threads into the weightbolt and having the extension connect to that instead. and just machine a hole in the bumper, so you don`t have to take it on and off.

I am late to comment but I wondered if you asked Richard about doing this extension. Yes, it might cost a little more but then you would have an unusual Richard Black cue and it would be original to the maker. Worth a lot more in the future.

I know Richard Black can do this extension. The question would be "does he have the time" in his schedule of current work"? If you have any inlays on the cue, Richard could duplicate them on the extension.

I believe you always need to consider future value when you have a cue made by someone like Mr. Black and you desire to make some change to it.

I appreciate the ideas and advice.

I did talk to RB when I first got into this, he's not experienced with extensions and having him make one was not going to work out.

I ended up reaching out to Blokid on here and we've gone back and forth trading specs. he's in the process of building me one that will replace the existing weight bolt and bumper entirely, therefore, I can always swap the old ones back in and restore the cue to original. Should know in a few weeks how it works.
