Streaming the World Chinese Pool Championship from China

Darren is out.
Ko plays Shaw in the next round, and the winner might face Wu.
Mouthwatering matches at a pool table. But I guess none of them are top Chinese 8-ball players?

Jayson Shaw Chinese 8 ball cue

Anybody got an idea what 3/4 Chinese 8 ball cue Jayson Shaw is using against Ko Pin Yi? My guess it is a Mike Wooldridge blackspin ferrule cue but I may be wrong.

These matches are hard to watch, slow play, tough table, players shoot with fear in my opinion. It's quit frustrating to watch them missing a lot of shots.

11-7, Shaw through to last 8.
At 7-7, he hit an incredible shot on the eight to clinch the rack. A deflated Ko couldn't recover from that loss.

Just two streaming tables at this one. There are a total of sixteen tables in the room though. You can follow real time scoring at http://www.top147.com/index/wl.php?cid=51

Yes, same event. Darren took third last year.

Man, thank you for providing the stream. This is great.

Question, I heard mention of two tv tables? Do you have updated links? I can only find one table?

Again, many thanks. Have you been to China before? Must be a blast.

I only caught the last rack, but Shaw appeared to be playing as well on that table as he does on any table: fearless.

Only 1 stream left at this stage.

I love the tactical battles and the degree of difficulty. Much more fun to watch this than a mickey mouse run out on buckets for pockets. They have a shot clock, so the play is not that slow.

So it looks like the remaining matches are currently scheduled as follows, with the men and women playing on the same schedule:

Round of 8 (Quarterfinals)
- Local time -- 10 am Wed. 15th
- USA east coast -- 10 pm Tues. 14th

Round of 4 (Semifinals)
- Local time -- 2 pm Wed. 15th
- USA east coast -- 2 am Wed. 15th

Playoff for 3rd/4th
- Local time -- 6 pm Wed. 15th
- USA east coast -- 6 am Wed. 15th

Finals
- Local time -- 1 pm Thurs. 16th
- USA east coast -- 1 am Thurs. 16th

VERY tactical game but i agree, it can be painful to watch at times. Poolroom owners in China must love this game. If pros are this slow then recreational play must be glacial. Again, GREAT stream by the AZ crew.

I've noticed that too, but I think it depends on the player. The guys who specialise in the game seem to play pretty fluidly and aggressively. Other players who maybe only play Chinese 8 ball a few times a year, as you say, look very tentative.

Agreed. The people who know what they're doing play different patterns and bump balls into better positions. Really cool to watch when done well.

I also appreciate how every shot, no matter how simple-looking, can be missed.

Quarterfinals

Big matchup in quarterfinals is between two E8B World champs Jayson v Hill
I think Hill has the edge cos he is tactically better player. Was runner up last year

Quarterfinals -10am local time (6.5 hrs from now)
Liu Haitao (CHN) v Phone Myint Kyaw (MYA)
Gong Haifeng(CHN) v Chu Bingjie (CHN)
Jayson C Shaw (GBR) v Michael Hill(GBR)
Yang Fan (CHN) v Zhu Long (CHN)

Amazingly, only WPA/International player without C8B and E8B background (outside of China and UK) left in tourney is this relatively unknown outsider from Myanmar, Kyaw.
4 non-China/UK players in last 16 same as last year. Still no improvement.

Quarterfinalist assured of at least $7K before tax
Champion gets about $85K
