The natural progression of AzBilliards thread about pool:

1. Member shares thoughts and hopes to inspire a back-and-forth colloquy.
2. Opinions ensue on both sides of the fence.
3. Trolls come out to play, hiding their identity, and aim at well-meaning members with mean-spirited words, having nothing to do with the topic of the thread.
4. Banned members posting under multiple identities smell blood and join in the fray.
5. A flame thread erupts.
6. Well-meaning posters don't contribute to what's now a flame thread.
7. Trolls like the flame thread and continue fan the fire.
8. Tag-team posts by trolls answering each other with high-fives and agreement, at the cost of putting down a well-meaning member, come forth to keep the flame going.
9. Trolls and banned members posting under multiple identities ruin the original content of the thread.

JAM posts
1. Everybody side bets on how long it will take her to become a victim after she calls people names.
2. As usual it takes about 5 posts.
3. People that agree or would like to see Earl play won't even post because of the OP becoming a "victim" and therefore want nothing to do with the thread.
4. JAM quits posting on AZ cause everybody is a troll or banned poster lol
5. 8 months later she is back looking to become a victim.

I wonder if this has anything to do with living in DC?

You know, you really don't know me. I don't know you, other than from reading you on this forum. In the past, you have targeted me, just like this post of yours, and I have responded in kind.

At this juncture, though, you're truly not worth it. I know you're looking to spar with somebody on a thread, but it won't be me. I got bigger fish to fry. Yes, in D.C.

------------------FROM A TWO YEAR OLD THREAD
......about Barry Hearn considering giving Earl a wild card...to the snooker championship.

Pink Lady...sounds like Matchroom likes Earl....and so do the Brits.

Voice of Reason...love him to bits.

Pink Lady.........they LOVE Earl-or they love to HATE him.......but the big difference is.
that when y'all "love to HATE him", it's simply what y'all do and how y'all are.
It's a form of RESPECT for his game 'cause he beats your players.

But here, when we HATE him, it's just that.
The US doesn't get it , but that's ok, as long as it's working for Earl and Matchroom....
...and pool (and snooker)

Voice of Reason responds that he isn't beating them any more.

but Barry Hearn knows what's good TV...or the 'telly' as they say there.

pt....still cheering for Earl

You just keep attacking other people and it gets old. If somebody doesnt agree with you its straight to the name calling.
I would like to see a well behaved Earl on MC cup team myself, he's always been my favorite player. BUThe can't control himself, which is just the way it is.
I think I even posted on a recent thread with Earl being on MY MC team if I had to pick. All these useless, faceless, banned, European, no pool playin trolls(according to you) have very valid reasons NOT to have Earl on the team, I don't believe they were attacking you at all, just stating their opinions.

As soon as this thread went up everybody knew what was going to happen and it did. I honestly don't like seeing you upset, but there was no other possible ending.

Remember we are all here cause we love pool

Your modus operandi is to try to one-up other members here. It's not just me. I've seen you do it many times to other well-meaning members who, asyou say, "love pool."

Maybe this makes you feel superior about yourself, to belittle others.

The thread is now diverted from the topic of Earl to personal attacks. Good job!

You quoted Jason's post

Where is there a personal attack? Where has he attacked you in this thread?

You can't keep crying wolf.

Says the queen of personal atracks. Thank you for interjecting some humor into this thread:D

And yes, this thread JUST got derailed LMAO! You make me smile.

I promise I will relax if you do, and I bet everybody else will too then this thread will be much more enjoyable for you.

I am a completely neutral party here and this is what i saw:

JAM stated her opinion, other people stated opposite opinions and she went off like a fireball. Its fine for people to not agree with you,JAM. You most certainly are the one in the wrong to begin with. You are obviously a fan of Earl and very strongly opinionated but you cant start name calling and bashing people just because they disagree with you. That's not the way the world works. Different people have different opinions. Deal with it

Humor is where you find it?

Don't know what your infatuation with Strickland is and could care less, but that is some hilarious funny stuff you just posted.
Excellent comedy or satire has to have an element of truth in it somewhere. No doubt, you found it.
You can't come up with stuff like that without a solid sense of humor.
I like it.
Keep on truckin'

Here's the additional information I mentioned above, shown for the same 13 players, i.e., those who have appeared in at least 3 Cups.

This way of looking at the records counts a full point for each player in a singles win or loss, a half a point for each player in a doubles win or loss, a third of a point for each player in a trebles (played only in 2006) win or loss, and one-fifth of a point (one-sixth in 2006 when the teams had 6 players) for each player in a team win or loss. So the following numbers essentially answer the question: "What numerical contribution has each player made to the overall Mosconi Cup match scores?"

  • Davenport (3 years)-- 7.0 - 3.5 (winning percentage of 67%)
    Williams (5 years) -- 9.0 - 5.5 (62%)
    Strickland (14 years) -- 27.2 - 18.4 (60%)
    Archer (17 years) -- 31.8 - 25.6 (55%)
    Deuel (9 years) -- 15.1 - 12.4 (55%)
    Jones (7 years) -- 12.0 - 11.7 (51%)
    Hatch (4 years) -- 6.9 - 6.9 (50%)
    Morris (10 years) -- 17.2 - 17.5 (50%)
    Rempe (3 years) -- 4.5 - 5.0 (47%)
    Varner (4 years) -- 5.5 - 7.5 (42%)
    Van Boening (10 years) -- 16.3 - 23.2 (41%)
    Bergman (3 years) -- 3.2 - 6.9 (32%)
    Dechaine (4 years) -- 2.4 - 10.4 (19%)

So the order did change using this measure, and Earl drops to third instead of first. (Of course, if you want to count just the 6 players who have appeared in more than 5 Cups, then Earl is first on this measure, too.)

My problem with this kind of analysis is that it doesn't take into account who the top players currently are. We cant take the top 5 from that list and make a winning team. We need the top players as of today, representing America. It is a bit like saying that Mosconi should be representing America in the next 14.1 championships. It sounds great but makes no sense from a useful data standpoint.

I understand there are people who have a personal interest in the spectacle that is Strickland and I mean that from a complimentary standpoint as much as anything, however we need to be pragmatic in team selection. We are in a serious situation where matchroom could decide at any time that America is no longer competitive enough to keep this competition going. We have to look beyond our past and our nostalgic memories and put forth the best team that we have TODAY. Based on the current data he does not make the cut in any way.

It wasn't intended to be used as a (or "the") basis for determining who should be picked for this year's team. It's just historical information provided in response to questions I have received. And, it's kind of interesting (to me, at least).

The join dates of some of the people posting in this thread tells the story. I rest my case. Trolls and Banned Members Posting unite!

You continue to target others, again, not only me. Have at it! This thread will be yesterday's toast soon. You will then move on and try to make yourself feel superior in another thread. Poor guy. Feel sorry for your a little bit. I'll say a prayer for you that you develolp a better life outside of the forum. :)

You can't keep crying wolf.

Not much more anyone can say to you after finding the definition of your member name. But most know that's not your only member name here. I do wonder how many other AzBilliards identities you have been.

The only one I haven't seen recently in the thread is jjinfla. He made an appearance earlier, though.

Hail, hail, the gang's all here.
What the heck do we care.
What the heck do we care.
