Okay...I want to take this to the real world, where you bet your cash on available info.

When I was a kid, I used to play the harness horses...was training to be a driver, actually.
...so, one day, I went to the thoroughbreds, with a guy from the pool hall....
...there was a horse going off in the feature race at 1/2...not a very good payout.
...but when I looked at his form....he seemed to have far better results than the others...
...so I asked my friend "Is this horse as good as it looks on paper?'....
...he said "He's better!".....so I said "Then this horse should be 1/9."
....so I went and bet all my money on him...had $1,800....
...my friend was a $2 bettor...asks "Why did you bet $1,800?"
...said "'cause that's all I got...I'd like to bet a million."

Horse won easy, by 15 lengths....picked up my $900 profit...:)

Sooooo.....can somebody show me a better form for 'Player of the Decade' than Shane's?
...when you reach into your pocket, the bullshit stops.

pt....wishes it was the Lion....but he spent part of this decade looking at hole cards

Shane is the clear leader, that bs about "world" title is just that, bs. To some on here it would be Albin before Shane lololol. Like you said, open your wallet and all that bs goes out the window

I second that. Guys like Darrel Peach are good guys and players but the fact that he came through with one big win doesn't mean he's top of the heap. SVB has a resume that is second to none. Claiming anything else is simple not a genuine argument.

Take out the Derby City and put in the All Japan and I would agree with you.

I agree with this, I've always been under the impression that the All Japan was one of the big ones. I love the Derby, but the Master of the Table title favours Americans and Filipinos who play in the US since, one pocket and banks are rarely played outside of North America.

To play devils advocate, do we know of any good sources for smaller events played in Asia? AZB is pretty comprehensive for events in the US, but I don't believe that Ko and company are only playing 5-7 tournaments a year.

With the mentions of Peach in this thread, I was curious as to his path to victory in the 2007 WPA World 9-Ball Championship. Here it is:

1. Matjaz Erculj 1-9 Group Stage
2. Rudolfo Luat 9-3 Group Stage
3. [unstated] 9-5 Group Stage
4. Ronnie Alcano (the defending champ) 10-6
5. Lee Kung-Fang 10-7
6. Harold Stolka 11-5
7. Francisco Bustamante 11-10
8. Vilmos Foldes 11-2
9. Roberto Gomez 17-15

So he beat some good ones. In looking up these matches, I was reminded of two things about this event in Manila. (1) The use of a soft break was prevalent and highly controversial. (2) In Peach's match with Bustamante, Bustamante led 10-9 in the race to 11. He had to kick at the 3-ball, and the 9-ball went in, seemingly for a match win. But after many replays, the ref determined it was a bad hit on the 3, and Peach then ran out the match. Bustamante went on to win the next World 9-Ball, in 2010.

SVB lost to Foldes 8-10 in the round of 32 players.

The controversial Bustamante kick shot starts around the 2:07:45 mark here:
