Afternoon with Cuemaker Danny Tibbits

Just spent the afternoon with Danny Tibbits, the famous cuemaker. We were shooting pool at Cues in Marietta. Shouldn’t be a surprise that he is a phenomenal pool player. But as great a cuemaker and player as he is, he’s even a nicer guy. We need more people like him in pool.

After 15 years of looking for the right Tibbitts cue, ended up with two in two months. His craftsmanship is amazing and his cues play incredibly. In all the years I played in that pool hall I never met him. Or maybe I did and didn't realize it?

Danny can beat just about anyone on any given day. His cues speak for themselves as everyone wants one. He once told me he can't play with one of his own cues because every time he tries someone always lays enough hundred dollars bills on the table until he can't say no and sells the cue. He was playing with a Huebler Jump Break cue last time I saw him

He was playing with his old McDermott (D series, I think). When my break cue tip flew off, he lent me his break cue. Wasn’t a j/b though.
