Selling cues

Well I saw him last night - and I guess he likes the HTX that I've been letting him use. I know he likes a Lucasi I have too - But ... I guess he's on a bit of a budget during the winter months, and I think he was thinking under $100. Anyway - I told him I'd bring in a Rage and a Viper to look at, and to join here and mentioned another guy who might have something.

Bought new and played, down 40%. Bought used, might break even. From my experience, doesn't matter if custom or production, they all go down.

You must not have much experience. A lot of custom cues go up in value whether played with or not.

I humbly disagree. Customs seem to hold better value, but in general, and across the board, at least IMO, they do go down then plateau, but that is at a discount to the original price. I think there are only about 20 or so cuemakers out there that your description fits in today's market. 15 years ago I would agree with you but not today. That is comparing them to what the cuemaker "MSRP" is. Many sell at a discount brand new.

Well you are also agreeing with me. I wasn't saying everyone, but there is a good chunk of cuemakers (some of them the elite, but not all) that there cues will go up in value even if you play with them (as long as you treat them well and arent a complete ass with them).

I'm definitely not saying all customs maintain or go up in value. That is definitely not the case. But there is more then a handful out there that do.
