Could someone please explain a joint pin's major and minor diameter as well as pitch diameter. Pretty sure i know what the maj. and min. are but pitch diameter has me a tad confused. TIA.

I kinda see it. What effect,if any, does it have on a cue's pin? For example: could you have two pins with same maj.&min. but different pitch diameter? I've heard that Joss and Schon pins have this difference. Right, wrong??

Your sought of right. Joss cues 5/16x14 on the older models ranged around .306 to .308x14. New one's are approximately.310x14.
Schon uses both Standard 5/16x14 around .306 to .308 but they also have a lot of cues out there with .302x14. Which means, the Schon shaft will not screw on to the Joss screw. The Joss shaft will fit both. The pilots for both joints are also different. Joss being around .500 i.d. and Schon around .530 i.d.
A simular situation would be with the 3/8x10. My standard 3/8x10 for my cues will not fit on a butt with a flat bottom or modified 3/8x10 because I had the correct tap made which allows me to drill a hole .020 smaller for a proper fit of the screw versus the modified with a .306 to .308 minor on the flat bottom.
