Efren Reyes Cup Announced!

Your corner of the world sounds nice. Around here you’re more likely to own a pool table than you are to have heard of the Mosconi Cup or name a current professional. You’re more likely to be able to run a rack than you are to actually watch a match in the last year (let alone specifically the cup).

I've got some inside info during Efren's farewell tour here in Germany:

-> Efren will not play (he said something like: why should I play, the tournament is already named after me), but will be the non-playing captain for team Asia an eventually pick the players for this team.

Hmm not so sure, for pool generally absolutely yes, but here in the UK at least I’ve spoken to (and seen at the venue) plenty of non-players who aren’t massively into cuesports but like the spectacle of the Mosconi Cup.

If it was a different game every day then it would turn off the casual viewer which is the last thing Matchroom wants.

Yep, I can count on the fingers of my infinite-fingered hand the number of folk who watch the Mosconi Cup but still consider two shots carry or dont carry or do but they don't to be "real" pool.

Picking teams.

If Efren gets to pick the team it is hard to imagine his buddy "Busty" not being on the team, just saying......
