In 1980 i bought a 4pt. JOSS with 2 shafts(ivory ferules) from Dan Janes for the princely sum of $162 delivered. Three yrs later i bought similar cue from R. Black for $375(w/Fellini case). I recently talked to Richard and he told me that same cue now(1 shaft, no case) is $1800. Wow, have things changed.

How about cars. My 66 Dodge Coronet 500 was $2800. Today the bumper on a car cost about $3000. And car insurance was $200 a year. Gas $25gal. Cigarettes .$.23-25 a pack.

And 6 RC Cola bottle caps got you into the matinee at the Capital Theater on Saturday afternoon. And Shock Theater came on at 1130pm on Friday nights, right after Johnny Quest. A double feature, and you would almost never make it through both, waking up at 330am to the Indian Chief on the TV.

And summers went on... forever.

I remember built-in metal ash trays at the corners of the pool tables; I remember no loud music, just the sound of pool balls colliding and banter between the players

I was so nostalgic over having been around those ashtrays in the 60's / 70's that I chased down a set for my GC1. I was hesitant at first debating whether or not they would become an annoying obstacle when cueing from the corners. Happy to report they really don't get in the way and have provided the added benefit of becoming the chalk holder. :thumbup:

Long ago I had a friend that liked those ashtrays so much he started smoking! lol
 
Not sure if it's been said, but I remember when we played on napped wool cloth, either Brunsco, Mali, Stevens, you name it. And you had to really stroke the cue ball good to break open clusters.

I'd want the seating raised though. That's just me cuz I'm short.
