Am I reading this right that the breaker won less than 50 percent of the matches? I thought the break was a significant advantage in 1p?

I think Buffalo’s tournament the breaker won around 63%. Big drop off I think was caused by the larger games won spread.

The breaker-won-game percentage fluctuates quite a bit from event to event. Small numbers can produce fluctuating or atypical results.

As you noted, it was just 45% (18 of 40) at this event.

At the Buffalo's event last month, it was 67% (44 of 66).

At the Accu-Stats MIH event last June, it was 66% (59 of 90).

For the streamed matches I have watched from the DCC and Southern Classic events from 2011 through 2018, the breaker-won percentage (for the games for which I have that information) varied from 41% to 84% over those 10 events! Aggregating all 389 of those games, the breaker won 216 (56%), or about 5 wins for every 4 losses.

And for all of the events mentioned here, combined, the breaker won 58% of the games tracked (337 of 585).
