rake...Did you not read the correct stats? The pro players average 1+ balls on the break about every other rack. Nobody makes a ball every time, playing 8-ball...even SVB, and his average will be higher than almost anyone else.

Yep, I know the stats.
When I'm breaking in 9ball, 10ball or 8ball I break as aggressive as I can without losing control.
If I'm playing someone that can string as many as I can or more, well, at that time I may resort to safes, depending on how "my break" is working "that particular day".
If my break is off that day, then I back it down and break to leave clusters or safe break depending on level of opponent.
Again, I'm aware of stats. I love playing against people that win the flip/lag and let me break.
I'm not saying I always break and run ....i wish.....but wayyy more than not, if I break, make a ball, if I don't get out I shoot a safe and still win.
Yep, there are those times that I (we all) break dry. Hey, like you said, even pros break dry so I KNOW I'm gonna do so. It's part of 8ball to me.
I sometimes assume (uh..ooh) people's skill level is higher than it is in reality which effects they way and what I post.
