My girlfriend and I left Clearwater this morning @ 9 and drove across the state to purchase a 40-ish yr old Tad Titleist from AZ's own BBB. The cue is absolutely gorgeous and in almost perfect condition. I couldn't be more pleased. BBB was a complete gentleman, extremely gracious and accommodating. Besides the Tad I purchased, he brought out another Tad and a sideways Joss West. Both beautiful cues. I hit some balls with all of them on his VERY nice GC I. The cue I bought was exactly as represented and, again, I couldn't be happier. I really think BBB shows the best part of what AZ has to offer, vis-a-vis its members. So thanks, BBB, it was all much appreciated.

BBB is a solid person. Good guy to know and play pool with. Good luck with that cue. Enjoy it for a long time.

Thanks Pt. He wasn't sure on the age, but he said he believes it's late 70s. I know from my research, Tad only began engraving his logo from 78 on, so it has to be at the earliest 78. That's why I said 40-"ish". I'm almost sure it's at least 30 but probably @ 40 or so. Solid as a ROCK, as one might expect from a Tad.
 
Tad had a large batch of titleist blanks 100s
My friend and his,Rick Landsberg of Orange County bought
almost all of them back in the 90s
he gave me a dozen or more,some were ebony

They made into great cues ,your new Tad is proof of what great cues
they are
I hadd Jerry Franklin,Paul Mottey,and Barry Szamboti make me cues with those
blanks,they all played good too

Enjoy that cue,you won't find many that nice .

Thanks Dean. I couldn't be happier with it. And thanks for the info on the blanks. Now that I have one, ( I've wanted a Tad since @ 74 when I first saw Rusty Brandmeyer's ) I want to know as much about them as possible.

Don’t change a thing, Michael....Swannee made people sick and tired of seeing a Tad
playing 9-ball.

First hollow point Tad I ever saw was Swannee’s in Cinci...I asked him what it was...
...he looked at me deadpan and said “I think it’s a Viking.”

I LOVED his Tad, at least the one I saw him with the times I saw him play. Besides being a superstar, he was quite a character. Eric Baker ( Family Billiards owner ) and I went to a tourney in the Carolinas back @ 86 or so. Swanson was there with Jimmy Hodges. He'd just gotten his ass handed to him by someone who had no business doing it and Eric said "Damn, Jay, what happened?" Swanson said "I think I over-amped on that bee-pollen." We were like, ummmm... huh? Turns out Hodges had him on a strict diet of organic bee pollen which, according to Jimmy, added at least a half a ball, if not more, to anyone's game. But after getting scalped, I suspect Swannee and bee pollen had a parting of the ways. :grin-square:

for the record it was the player i was pretty sure was late 1970's or close
the one you got is definitely not close to new but i really dont know how old

Well, that having been said about the age, I now want to know, as closely as can be determined, just how old it is! Any Tad experts here? Anyone can tell me how old ( or close ) this cue is? Was Tad making Titlist conversions right up to the end? Or did he stop so many years back? None past a certain year? INQUIRING MINDS WANNA KNOW! please let me know if possible and thanks in advance for any and all help!

i am not a tad expert but if you can get the bumper off there should be a number under the butt i think
you can call tad /jj cues and ask them to look it up
thats what i did with the player
but what difference does it make if its 10/20/30 years old ????
look at the big picture
its made by tad /in great shape and PLAYS GREAT........:)
just sayin
 
Is there a premium for Tad over Fred cues? I have not run across that differentiation.

Well, true... it doesn't really matter. But I'm anal about that kind of stuff ( and other stuff as well. Just ask Rita! ). I wanna know when it was made! :D

Thanks for the info on calling them about it. If no one here can help, I will probably do just that!
