The pool instructor can peg the highest on every parameter but I can't. His stroke is much better than mine and I want to learn to get my stroke better, if I can. Does that seem reasonable? I don't spend my money on several cue sticks. I only have one with a couple of shafts. I do spend my money on training aids and instruction.
Took 15 years of reading but Lou finally used the wrong word... unless that's one of those word games you like such as "I dan't know."
Its not designed to produce higher runs or pocket balls or pick future blue chip stocks, its designed to let you know where your stroke has errors. If it does that its a great training tool for new players that will enable them to play better faster which might lead to MORE people playing.
I dont know if it works like advertised but if it does it would be great for a pool hall to have when new people show up. If I were a pool hall owner I would give a free short lesson using it to newbies hoping they can learn faster and stay longer.
Good post. I think we all know anyone that can afford the Digicue Blue and doesn't buy one, they do NOT want the digital accurate critique on their stroke. Simple as that. Their stroke is fantastic and they want to leave it like that (in their head).
Lou,
I found your articles over at http://jbstein.com very helpful and I think I understand where your coming from. The digiCue isn't going to help with aim but it will help them get the cue ball where they want it to go right or wrong.
Playing on the level you discussed in "The Physics of Pool" to me also means having a stroke that puts the tip exactly where you want it on demand, nice and straight, and without any tip steer. This will help create the tool needed to better control of the Cue Ball.
In my opinion after developing a stroke it's time to use that stroke in shot aiming, and control options practice without having to wonder if it was your stroke or "operator" error that caused the failure. The digiCue helps clear that up real fast.
It's just a simple way to get a better idea if it was your stroke or your "aiming system" that caused you to sit down.
So will you pocket more balls? Well I guess that depends on the "Aiming system"
I understand if you are happy with your stroke. But for the ones that want to improve this device is a good one. I think it's hard to play great pool without a great stroke. Which must come first.
This stuff reminds me of the scene from "Tin Cup" where Roy is trying out all the stuff he told his student to never use. Golf has had more "improvement" gizmos than any game on Earth and maybe five have ever done anything. Hey, if you think it works, it works.
Yeah i tried it for an hr . Ran out over and over and over and over , all the while it's telling me my stroke is jacked ! I'm old school and think practice , natural talent and heart is what makes a great player . Hope tou sell a bunch of them tho.
I'm not in market for one for starters and all the recent bad publicity on the CS at OB would make it a complete non-starter for me. Electronics die. Fact-of-life. Are you stuck with a $150 piece of plastic if(or when) it quits? You like it, great.True enough and I've owned a few of them when I played golf. I think everyone will find someone with their phone on the table with one of these Digicue Blue devices. Try it out. If you can get your acceleration on the follow through constantly past 7.0, you're better than I am (so far). My instructor pegs it at 10.0 on his first use of it. An amazing stroke. Like an easy golf swing that drives the golf ball 300 yards like Ernie Els.

Bet a little bit and that digicue will be shaking then what fixes that ? All strokes are different. WE are fine the way WE are . But whatever you say , WE are afraid!!!! Let ME know when that Digicue fixes yalls stroke and we can play some sets ! Good luck

That's funny. Maybe they could add a "You're about to dog it" function. Sort of a " DANGER Will Robinson. Sensors are telling us you are about to choke. Adjust accordingly".Bet a little bit and that digicue will be shaking then what fixes that ? All strokes are different. WE are fine the way WE are . But whatever you say , WE are afraid!!!! Did your instructor get such a straight stroke from the digicue?
There is no fear of using the device. That's the insult you put out that has everyone jacked up.
Hall of Fame golfer Lee Trevino, regarded as one of the all time best had an ugly swing.
I get instant feedback as soon as the CB leaves my cue tip. I have stroke drills that also give me instant feedback.
So your instructor developed a great stroke w out ever using a digicue?
Got it.
He did! Gives the rest of us something to achieve. Without the test, how would we know?
