cue storage

I'm currently using a hustler(movie)-style hard case to travel with..can I leave my cue in it and keep it under the bed like paul newman?
or should I be storing it upright.
definitely trying to keep my gear in good shape, avoid warping, etc.
thanks for any advice-

Always keep upright if possible. In a tight-fitting case like a JB it may be ok to lie down but if the case is roomy like those old Brunswick hustlers it really should be kept vertical if possible. Yrs. ago i had a nice box case in which a shaft warped from not being fully supported. Have tried to keep cues upright ever since.

cool idea..does the holder kind of "hug" the cue or ?

I just bought a drill and a wooden pool cue rack so looks like I'm going that route:D
 
Yes, they just stretch over the cue. They work great. I have two different brands and both work well. Multiple sellers on the bay offer them.
 
I don't recommend the other style hanger with the plastic loop. It fits tightly around the cue (my 13mm anyway), and you have to slide it over the tip which drags I bit of chalk with it into the ferrule each time.

I agree. Split-tube is the best.
