2019 China Open 9ball/9ft (5-8 Sep) Winner $40K

Albin Ouschan, too. Qualification for the knockout stage is no bargain in the top WPA events even if you're a world beater like Shaw or Ouschan.

Definitely a monster field. Hope the US Open looks like this someday.

Not even close when nobody recognizes half the names. Too many entries.

Yes, but the sixty four best players at the US Open are of about the same strength as the sixty four in this field, making it at least as hard, and probably harder, to win.

Know what you are saying, though. There's no dead money at the China Open.

Yes, exactly! You say it better

The strength of the qualifiers seems to me is deliberate. Chinese put these world class players in the qualifiers so that most of them fail, meaning more Chinese will be in the main draw with mediocre abilities. This is China Open, China wants more local players than foreign.

Thanks for the links OP. Anyone else only see half a screen, half the table? Is there a way to fix this?

TIA

Two Finns in last 32! :grin-square:
Not surprise for me. I compete against these guys and play sometimes small gambling matches.

Looks like Shane is the only American left standing as the qualification tournament has finished.

…. on to the knockout rounds

My buddy Marco told me the guy could play.....I never heard of him...
....well, I’ e Heard of him now....
I wish him the best of luck.

Many thanks, Spartan, for your wonderful coverage of this truly premium event.

some of the groups looked real tough. for those of you who have been watching the streams - any particular good match to look for? are they even on youtube btw

This is not true.
Only 6 players from China enter the main draw automatically. (Yes, there're many from Taiwan, too, but they are two different 'countries')
Add 3 more who made it through the tough qualifying round, making it 9 in total.
That's only 9/64.
Now compare it to the no. of US players in the US Open.
Whether these Chinese players are mediocre is open to debate (Wu and his World Cup partners Liu and Dang are certainly not), but China definitely didn't take much advantage.

Looks like the matches for today should be starting any moment. I've checked these links to no avail so far...any other ideas, Spartan? TIA.

I’m wondering if it’s free, I can’t tell if they want money or not lol, I’m just looking at the cool scene they have up
