Can you show a picture of the way you mounted the other axis? Does it interfere with the lead screw? Thank you for the original post and the future pictures!

Using two of the supplied brackets I mounted one on each end and mounted the scale on them. Had to drill and tap 2 1/4-20 holes to mount the brackets.
The scale is moved by a long screw extending into a hole drilled into the bottom of the carriage.
The scale is about .875" below the bottom of the round rails and interferes with nothing.
Their is about .010" backlash in the X axis with that setup but that is no big problem not being a CNC controlled axis.
If you purchase one of these I will gladly turn the lathe upside down and take some detailed photos of the installation for you.
Any cue maker would have no real problems mounting this DRO on a Porper cue lathe.
