I am not a Scruggs expert, but have never seen anything thing similar on the Cue & Case Galley, or For Sale by Scruggs that looked like this,

Hundreds of Scruggs have been posted there.

Anymore in the safe? You said 2 80s Meuccis and play with a Schon...in the other thread.

none in safe , lol . this is guy local to me , im wanting another scruggs just dont want shafted if you know what i mean

I've owned and seen seen many Scruggs cues. Never saw them make one like that before. Clearly, it's a doctored up Dufferin conversion, which he made a few of.
Just never saw one with huge spear tips on the points like that. Are the ferrules on the shafts made of ivory???

frankie what about the the second pics of the brown cue ? im going to look at it wednesday , what should i inspect to make sure its not a fake ?

The one with the Hoppe ring looks real, the other doesn’t. But I would be wary of both if it’s coming from the same guy.

I've owned a ton of Scruggs (currently have 4). Never have I ever seen one like that with that kind of logo in a diamond in an odd location. And the points look very jacked with a very weird, overly large arrow at the top of the points.

I'd say that it was fake. I wouldn't take a risk on it at all. If it was real, I'd say it came from some apprentice in Timmy's shop messing around for the very first time on his own and slapped the logo on it without Timmy's permission.

As for the hoppe-ringed cue... it looks legit. That is a very standard style that was produced in Timmy's shop. But, I'd still be leery of anything if they were all from the same buyer.

R,

Greg

many scruggs cues (esp those with iv ferrules) have a distinctive sound when hitting the qb...a "ping" is the best way i can describe it

Some JW cues on the other (again with iv ferrules) made a "pong" sound which i, John Wright (RIP) and others thought were the best players and sold for a little more in our clique

Scruggs ebony cue

Here is the details on your cue.
It is made from a Dufferin ebony 1pc house cue which was called a hi-run. Scruggs inlaid a ivory diamond in each of these cues and inlaid diamonds at the ends of the points to cover up the bad ends. Everyone one of these were made the same and there were 12-15 of them. I know this because it was my idea to have Timmy make them.
All of them came with 1 shaft and were 250.00 new. I believe the year was 2001 or 2002. I owned 6 of them. The leather wrap on your cue was put on later as these cues were wrapless.

Deanoc wasn't involved was he??? ;) Interesting info. Thanx

Mr Frey contacted me today about the brown cue , said it looks like a scruggs but cant really tell from the pics i had.

and i decided not to buy the one i found for sale. the guy changed locations of where to meet and my gut tells me to walk away . i mean i conceal carry , but something just did not set well with me .

and im not just feeling right about it . plus im looking at other cues besides it .

the times have changed for sure , back when i played all the time , it was mcd , meucci, joss , and one old dude at pool hall here thats no closed played with a zam . now all these new makers , carbon fiber this and all these new shafts ive been left in dust to being old school . so i will find something that fits. ive always had a production cue , and im 52 and bucket list was to have a real nice custom before i die lol .

He made some of those ebony duffern conversions, but hadn't seen any with those points.. The butterfly and logo look right, but rest of cue looks doesn't.

I know where there are far older conversions than mentioned above. And know for a fact they came from Tim's shop.
