Would you use with this carpet?

Or stick with tournament blue & blue chalk with frequent vacuum usage.

Go with whatever color your wife wants.


If you get a significant amount of chalk dust on that carpet then you're doing it wrong.

How much chalk do you grind onto your tip and then cast onto the floor?
 
If you're afraid of chalk on the carpet then use natural chalk. I know people use different color chalk so they don't stain their shafts.

Table cloth can be replaced.
 
My preference is tournament blue and blue.

Having said that, tan cloth is one color that I don’t find impossible to live with. If that, along with tan chalk keeps the wife happy, it might be worth considering.
 
A couple of things to address,

Don't worry about what the wife wants - not an issue.

Even with chalking properly, with the lightest of brush strokes chalk will be falling to the floor. Compound that with hours played & there will be significant chalk on the carpet.

Not to mention friends that come over to play & as has been so eloquently put - do it wrong or grind chalk onto the tip.

So again, go with something that won't show up so much over time or use the vacuum frequenctly?
 
I am not a big fan of the tournament blue. I still greatly prefer the old standard green and think that gold is better than both from a playability standpoint. Balls are easiest to see on a gold table, and green is easier than blue.
 
Best combo is Tournament blue and Taom Pyro. Taom keeps table and balls a lot cleaner. Probably 90% cleaner. Our private billiard club only allows use Taom chalk nowadays. Tables are so much cleaner that is unreal :)

P.s Taom chalks are not good with hard tips.

edit: also hands and enviroment stays a lot cleaner.

For home tables it's OK for the carpet residue to match the colored dots on the 8' white ceiling.

I’ll second all that. I only rarely clean the balls now just to remove finger grease from handling. Haven’t experienced a single skid since switching to Taom. I examine the red circle CB for chalk marks every time I pick it up, but it is always pristine. Go figure.
I USED to vacuum the cloth regularly, but now I just wipe off the occasional mis-cue mark with a damp rag. Better keep your tip roughed though.

Just curious - at $20 per piece, who supplies the Taom Pyro chalk at your billiard club? I'm not being critical of your suggestion - I use Taom Pyro and I love it! One piece likely lasts as long as 50 pieces of Master chalk, so actually it's not really that much more expensive.
 
Here we get Taom 12€ per piece. One piece last 3-12 months..
So it is not expensive. Imho.
