Clearly you're missing my point, if they were to play against eachother I would take 2 to 1 on mike....I'm not interested in "setting up " a match there "big shooter" but I would bet on a match....see the difference?!

In the end, it's about entertainment VALUE. And there is no value to matchroom or pool on this set up. Yes Europe maybe deserves to go on a 2 -3 year tear cause they are great, but we arent putting our best vs their best AND...its one country vs 1 continent. At this point play 4:

North america
Europe
Chinese Taipei
Philippines

Mike has played MC twice and didn't play worth a shit iirc. Plus everyone on the team hated his ass and didn't like being in same room with the guy. In 2016 i'm pretty sure he was 0-4 when we got smoked 11-3. You really think MD could beat Tyler S. even right now??

I agree with you. Shane being the powerhouse he is needs to step up and really show the team what it means to lead. And I'm at the point where I just don't think he's capable of or wants to do that, or maybe he has serious doubts about his ability to lead others. Europe knows how to play with one pulse, and they know how to ride and die together. USA has a tendency to crumble as soon as a few cracks start to show. Disgraceful performance from USA, both in play and conduct.

I like shane. I think liking a guy and respecting him are a different thing. The same as it is with talent. You can be super talented and take everyone down with you cause we have to "cater to our top guy" instead of doing what's best. What's the point if coaches then if they cant take our TOP TALENT and make them gel and put aside personal shit. You think everyone on major sports teams get along? No....they assemble talent.....rarely you see world beater talent cast aside for "team cohesion" although it does happen.

Either way...this US team couldn't beat Europes B squad and I'm a US fan. I just wish shane used his firepower in a way that built the team up...can you imagine playing on and underdog team for 13 years and your top guy cant ever pull it together? I'm amazed we won the last two. And without bergman and mike....or "north American players" I can see another decade of European 11-3s...Maybe mike didnt make a different before....that doesnt mean he wont now with the young guns around him...more fire on this team and less catering to svb.

I'll take the players on team Euro vs the USA players EVERY day. I'm not anti America, im just a realist and if I'm gonna bet, I think everybody on euro crushes everybody but Shane and he's not a favorite.
 
It would be nice if we had a better stable of horses to draw from. But Mike Dechaine has been in previous Mosconi Cups and in my opinikn has crumbled under the pressure each time. I’d he kept at it, he might’ve been tempered to steel by now but I wouldn’t go back to that well now.

Isn't wherthrr or not a player is selected decided by some sort of points system?

I haven't seen mike in any notable events in quite some time.
