Mezz wx900 discontinued...?

I'm actively seeking the purchase of a Mezz. I did manage to find a seller within driving range and will be hitting a few cues shortly. Unfortunately from what I've been told leading up to this demo, is that he doesn't have any wx900 shafts for me to hit and further, that it has been discontinued. Now I can't find any confirmation of this anywhere online, and if anything it appears as though the wx900 can be purchased from several dealers.

This is extremely disapponting for me if true. I'm coming from a Z2 so the would be leap to the wx900's 12mm tip will be enough of a change. If Mezz no longer offers a 12mm shaft then I'll probably end up going in a different direction entirely.

Can anyone confirm the future production status of the Mezz wx900...?

Sup JV,
Been looking at new cues for the missus and Mezz has such a good rep, resulting me in doing a lot of browsing on different retailers’ Mezz selection. Virtually everywhere I’ve looked offers the WX900 as an option.

More notable, I think, would be that both Mezz’s USA distributor site and the Mezz home site both list the WX900 and WX900SWS. Neither mention anything about discontinuing them. I think I would call the US distributor at (917)324-9991

Is that common practice to just sell out units without some sort of heads up for consumers? Maybe just a letter to their retailers to place their final orders. If true perhaps, and let me get my speculation spectacles so I can get to spectalating... The WX900 is the middle ground between 700 and carbon fiber. They want to upsell consumers on the carbon fiber shaft, so eliminating the middle ground(talkin out my rear here).

Thanks for the comment VK,

I'm still getting up to speed on the Mezz line up. If you do a little digging on the MezzUSA website, they offer the standard Mezz cues with any of the 8 shafts they produce. However the Exceed models they carry can only be outfitted with either the Expro or Ignite.

The seller I'm potentially dealing with is mainly an Exceed guy, so maybe there's something being lost in translation as far as wx900 availability.

Regardless, everything I find says that the wx900 is still available. It does seem a tad ridiculous to pay Exceed pricing and be pigeon holed into only 2 shaft options. Both of which are beyond my upper limit for tip diameter.

I guess the worst case senario is I opt for a standard Mezz rather than an Exceed model and keep a paint load of money in my pocket...lol

Just a guess but,,,
Go over to the Mezz USA website. The WX 700 is on sale the 900 is not.

Over to playing cues the EC 7 series is on sale, the replacement EC 9 is not. The same thing with the Mezz sneaky pete. The original MSP is on sale the MSP 2 is not.

I believe they are clearing out the old stock. The WX 900 is safe for now, otherwise it would be on sale.

They are still showing as available on the MezzUSA website. Like I stated on other threads, a number of cue dealers don’t even carry Mezz products anymore due to their stingy wholesale price structure for dealers.

I have a number of WX 900 shafts like new that I would like to sell, but they are all either Mezz wavy or Mezz united joints and all are 30 inches - 1 inch extra long. If that suits you, you can PM me, I’ll give you a great price.

Based on the impression I will have after this evening of hitting some Mezz cues, I may just take you up on that offer...

The only pitfall is I won't have the opprotunity to hit the wx900 this evening. I know the wx700 will feel fat in my bridge hand and will squirt the ball way more than I'm used to. Seeing as the shaft makes the hit (imo), I'm worried that I may get turned off by my first Mezz experience.

I finally got my custom 60-inch Exceed after 2 1/2 years on the waiting list. I requested a year ago to switch my order to the Ignite shaft instead of the EXpro shaft, as the ignite carbon fiber shaft was not even available in 2018 when I ordered the cue. They (MezzUSA) were not willing/able to do that, so I had to purchase the Ignite shaft extra and still get the EXpro shaft which I am not using - what a waste.

No comparison in my opinion between the WX700 and the WX900. The 700 deflects way too much for my taste whereas the 900 has very low deflection, yet still feels very solid, unlike Predator shafts.

..and that is my biggest concern. The point in the demo session this evening is to educate myself on the hit of the cue so I can make an informed choice on Mezz rather than just gamble the money and hope. It will be hard for me to part with the Exceed price point in hopes that the 900 will improve my experience enough.

I was hoping this would be my last cue purchase, but I may have to go the route of a standard Mezz with the 900 for ~1k just so I can sort out if the 900 is good for me. Then resell and jump to the Exceed, which is the primary goal.

Why are you not considering the Mezz Ignite carbon fiber shaft at this time - just curious?

Well... First off I'm a bit of what I perfer to call a "traditionalist". Meaning I just don't like the look and steril feel of CF. I have hit the revo models and the 11.8 Jacoby Black, and although I liked the Black the most it still wasn't for me. Second the Ignite is a 12.2mm. I really prefer the smaller tip diameter of the Z2 (snooker roots).

For me this hopeful purchase isn't about attempting to improve my game, or squeezing out some more CB spin capability. I have just been playing a long time with the same crap, and feel like I deserve a nice "forever" cue. Something that I will enjoy using and more improtantly I'm comfortable with.

Hope that makes sense

It makes perfect sense. When I made my big step up in cues fifteen years ago, I knew within a hundred shots that I would never play up to my new cue's potential. I also realized the degree to which my old cue had impeded my development. The psychological edge obtained by having confidence in one's equipment is tremendous. It is far better to be overcued than undercued.
