Viewing of John Schmidt's 626 straight pool run

....and ...

"
What a week. On Thursday i was able to see history. Mr 626 broke Willie Mosconis record of 526. Wow what a great show.
John Schmidt
is a class act. I reached out to him to see if he would like to gove. A young player some pointers or a lesson. He did not hesitate to say yes. John had a crazy busy schedule but made sure he was able to fit in some one on one time with
Steffon T Gillaspie
. Now mind you Steffon has only been playing 4 months but John was still on board. To see John enjoying his time with Steffon and Steffon taking it serious and absorbing everything John had told him. That was very enjoyable for me. To see these two hit it off. Now mind you i was able to hang out and talk with legendary cue maker Jerry Mcworter. I was like horry sheet this is great. At that point im on cloud nine. A kid in a candy store. One thing that i thought about when i got home besides i need to buy all of Jerrys cues was John deserves more respect for what he has done and how good of a player he is. Thank You John for taking the time to teach the game and what you have done for the game. See you in Cali John. There are good people in this world. "

In a perfect world.
I would love to go and see his show, and later be able to review the DVD at home, so as to take bathroom/snack breaks at my leisure. It’s a shame dedicated 14.1 fans are thus so deprived.
It’s as if a major rock band had a hit recording, but was afraid to release it for fear that fans wouldn’t then attend their live concerts.
ummmm, rock fans are NOT as cheap as pool players.. so no comparison. LOL

crickets up in here from the sayers of nay

What?

Are you submitting yourself for a Nobel nomination for a perpetual motion machine?! Because all you're doing is baiting and keeping this death cycle of a thread going.

All those reports have been addressed by with those with doubts and the bottomline is: it was clearly a great time for all involved but, in between bathroom breaks, eating chili fries, drinking Bud Light, some of it shown at high speed, and whatever schmoozing took place, none of the showings rose to the level of proper scrutiny for anyone to "certify" it broke Mosconi's record. Doesn't matter who wrote the review -- it was what it was.

I believe the BCA already “certified” it.

Les jeux sont faits!

Please.

Take minimal effort and read back through the thread to see why some of us have an issue with that.

All some of you are doing at this point is baiting.

The BCA had representatives watch the unedited video and they declared the run legitimate, and the Board said Schmidt had set a new BCA record.

So far, it seems the people who saw the video are satisfied that the run was good. The video was continuous and showed every shot.

The people who are alleging fraud and conspiracies haven't seen the video.

It was a quiet day today, so going back through many pages of the posts, and collecting comments, these are my favorites.,,,

1. Danny Harriman alleges John Schmidt and Jerry McWhorter perpetuated a fraud with a video that was cut and spliced. "chopped video"
2. Danny Harriman alleges the pool hall perpetuated a fraud by having the table "modified" to make it easier to run 626 balls.
3. Danny Harriman alleges Predator Cues and the BCA conspired to create a bogus record. They are all 'corrupt'.
4. Bob Jewett, Mark Wilson, Nick Varner, Freddie Agnir, and others are part of the conspiracy, or maybe they were fooled into thinking they saw a legitimate run. Maybe they were eating at the time Schmidt fouled and just didn't notice?

Without any evidence, it's been suggested that:
- Maybe there was a heater under the table.
- Maybe the balls were repeatedly pulled off the table during the run and polished up.
- Maybe the balls were waxed
- Maybe the cue ball was cleaned and not put back in the same place.
- Maybe the table was doctored in some way.
- Maybe the slate was shaved or sanded.
- Maybe the pocket facings were dead.
- Maybe the balls were racked crooked
- Maybe there was vacuuming and cleaning the cloth after a run started
- Maybe there were people helping Schmidt with shot decisions
- Maybe nobody actually counted the balls sunk.

It's suspicious that Schmidt's run was 626. EXACTLY 100 balls more than Mosconi.!!

The first 200 balls weren't on the video. Not true according to the people who saw the video.

People viewing the video had to sign an NDA and not talk about it. If they did talk about it Schmidt could "sue them for $1 million". Not true according to the people who saw the video.

During Schmidt's presentation, people weren't allowed to ask any questions or make comments. Not true according to the people who saw the video.

Why won't John sell his video online? "I won't pay $50 to see it in a room with other people."

One commenter said the run was on Simonis 760, and quoted Mike Sigel as saying "anyone who knows the game could run 700 or 800" on a table like that. Maybe people are trying now?

In Feb 2020, Schmidt had 33 consecutive winning matches in 14.1. But those are "just statistics and don't reflect his ability to play 14.1"

Nick Varner, Mark Wilson, and Bob Jewett are in the industry, so "have a conflict of interest"
The people who saw the video probably like John Schmidt so their opinion "can't be trusted".
Regarding Bob Jewett's review, "too many accolades tend to lead to a swelled head attitude for some"

Schmidt's run was on a 9-foot table, while Mosconi's was on an 8-foot table.
-"Everyone" knows that it's much harder to play 14.1 on a smaller table so Schmidt's run is bogus.
- Danny Harriman plays 14.1 on a 10' table and says it's "much harder" than playing on a 9-foot

Schmidt wiped the ball with his glove generating a static charge, then put his gloved hand in the pocket to attract the ball. Magnetism!!

No one can beat Mosconi's record unless they do it under the same conditions.
- on an 8 foot table
- the pockets need to be bigger
- "The cloth would need to be slow"
- "The balls would need to be crappy and sticky"

Danny Harriman said he didn't want to watch the video. He just wanted it examined by the Geek Squad.
Danny Harriman said the video should be examined by Naval Intelligence.
Danny Harriman said "I want to watch it at my home."

Danny Harriman said he beat Schmidt in a straight pool match 13 years ago, so Schmidt can't be that good.

Danny Harriman says Schmidt is 'a coward with a carbon fibre cue in his hand'

Straight pool player from Germany asks "Who is Danny Harriman?"

Doesn't matter whether they saw it or not. Their minds are made up, and nobody can change that.
They will always find fault. It's in their DNA.

Especially, when it involves the "holy one".... :ROFLMAO:
