Lucasi flexpoint vs Mcdermott g-core

All,

Does anyone know the difference with these two shafts? The McDermott seemed to skinny (I lost accuracy, but gained a lot of English), and the Lucasi seems to be the opposite (too thick and can't get on the cue ball in places I would like too). However, everything I can find says the Lucasi and the G-core have the same size shaft (12.75 mm diameter).

I'm considering having a pro cue maker cut the shaft on the Lucasi down a bit - to maybe a 12.50 or something. Do you guys think this would be a good idea? I've got a reputable cue maker in my area who said he can do this for 80$.

If they're both 12.75 how can one feel bigger? Must have been turned down at some time. I'm sure the tapers are different and that can make two with same size at the ferrule feel totally different. Going from 12.75 to 12.5 isn't much. Shaft won't play much different. Your call. Only you know what feels right to you. BTW, based on the McD site the G-core is 13mm. Their I-2 shaft comes in 12.75 http://www.mcdermottcue.com/mcdermott_gcore_shafts.php

I ordered a McD with a G-core at 12.5 and it came in and measured 12.5.
A friend ordered one and didn't specify and it came at 13mm.
I know of someone else that ordered one at 12.75 and guess what it came in as. lol

Difference? Ones Chinese, the others an American. Thats enough for me. Did I ever mention being pretty pissed at China right now?
Need to be pissed at Cue-n-Case then too. They're the ones having their cues made overseas.

By the way, 0.25 mm = 1/100". Can that small difference really make a meaningful difference in the way it looks/feels to you?

However, I gotta admit that when I use a 12 mm shaft it feels like a baseball bat compared to my 9.5 mm. That's 10 times the 0.25 mm difference, but still only 1/10"... and it looks/feels like a huge difference to me.

No, I don't. I know very well lots of good American company's have to carry Chinese goods. Including every pool dealer I ever bought from. But my days of spending many hundreds of dollars on a Predator or a hundred on a player are gone, as of winter 2020. I'll stop now as this is nearing NPR. Sorry.

Yes. It makes a huge difference.

To the OP, it looks like Lucasi has different options for the their flexpoint shafts and the G-core comes standard at 13mm. Did you order the shafts new or do you know who did.

I guess the question becomes - do you know what size they are and which specs were ordered? The lucasi has both an LD and standard shaft listed.
