Joint Info

Planning for a new cue. In my experience a stainless steel joint has the firmest hit, generally speaking. This is the hit I prefer but after hitting with some cues with a phenolic joint, not all, there are some that deliver the same or nearly the same hit as a SS joint. I want to use a 3/8x10 pin because that will fit the shafts I have. Are there certain techniques cue makers use with phenolic material to produce a harder hit? For example, Mezz cues with phenolic joints hit as hard as SS it seems. Opinions/recommendations?

Most people are doing stuff to try and make stainless play like phenolic instead of the other way around.
Some have sleeved phenolic over stainless but I happen to think stainless joints look nice so I dont get that one.

Doug, try Brass, Juma, Ivory, also Wood joints.
Tomahawk material is a good choice for joint and ferrule.

Ivory over stainless is the Norm now a days.
Juma over steel looks great and plays well.
