somehow ended up with a pillow for a tip on my cue
in a few ways, I do kinda like it
it holds chalk good, grips the cb well, and plays little touch shots nice
but by that same token, it's more difficult to get speed on the cb
and tho I can play it well with english, my draw shot is (even more) horrible with this thing
I like the soft feel, but this one is kind of mushy
not quite my fave flavor, I don't think, but glad I got the experience

anybody relate? not?
while I'm here, what tip do you like that's maybe a step up from mush?

Soaked some Elkmasters in alcohol (Isoduds?) to rinse out the chalk. Dried 'em out more or less, mounted one and frayed the top (wudjoo think would happen?) Then dressed the top and sides with superglue gel. Wiped off the excess - you can burnish it in after a few seconds leaving a glossy surface that shapes as you please without fraying. Repeat with the glue as required. That particular one is still on and still hits like rubber.
The rinse theory was to prevent the chalk from bricking but I've since done the glue bit without the rinse with little ill effect. You get a slightly harder impact but still under medium.

I hate soft tips. Thoroughbred med-hard is perfect imo.

For all the things you mention is why I play with harder tips.

One cue i have i love the soft tip on it over a med or hard. I put the same soft tip on a different shaft for a different cue and i find it hits with amazing control but The power transfer just isnt there.

They first cue hits harder naturally so the soft tip worked great. Second cue i think i will have to change to a medium or hard to get the power transfer.

It was interesting to see that difference.

Stock Elkmasters are too soft. Soaked and pressed, they're significantly improved. Kudos to whoever came up with the idea.

4 cues, one with the milk dud, two with LePros, and one with a laminated Action. They all play well enough for me.
